it would be polite to inform guests of construction works taking place on their floor prior to booking or at least offer a discount.this is a pricy 4 star rated hotel which looks run down on the out outside( unlike the pictures) and could do with its interior being updated (...yellow seals around the shower tray; retro pictures from a communist era).Gloomy reception staff.

We loved the view from the balcony and enjoyed the pool facilities, especially the salt bath, and the bed and air-conditioning were great, especially by Eastern European standards.

Hotel Danubius Spa Sovata is located right in the center of the resort, being the largest hotel in it. It is quiet anywhere in the hotel, during our stay the resort was very quiet. The Saltwater Spa Center is comfortably located opposite the hotel The main attraction is the tour of the small salt lakes (Lake Ursu, Lake Mierlei, Paraschiva Lake, Green Lake, Red Lake, Black Lake), formed on the former salt valleys. The complete tour takes between 2 hours and 4 hours depending on the attention you give to the details. I want to mention the excellent, qualitative and quantitative food served at Danubius Restaurant. I would not like to exaggerate, but it seemed to me the most com petitive in Romanian Hotels I have been, at these two chapters.

Quite expensive for what you get. Looks a bit old. The staff are very kind but they didn't look happy.

Hotel is well placed in Sovata close to most of the shops, stations etc. Has everything you need. Restaurant, baths etc.

The room furniture was a bit worn out, with one of the lights flashing randomly. The bathroom needed a remake. Noisy neighbours. Breakfast time was over at around 10am, but at about 9:30 the food was no longer refreshed (the empty trays were just covered instead of being refilled). Lots of rules on display in the spa area, but the staff was not looking to enforce them. E.g. children jumping in the pools, people making noise in the relaxation area, etc. No reaction from the staff, a lady asked the spa receptionist about this, but again no response, she only raised her shoulders and looked the other way. The elevators are too slow.

Clean, large spa area, with lots of saunas and pools. Good location, right across the lake. Large parking lot (but full of cars). Wine bar.

The attitude of all personal from the reception, cleaning and restaurant need important change. At four stars hotels, I am willing to pay high price, but I consider that they have to fulfil some minimal standards. The room was not cleaned during my stay and the towels not changed even I put it on floor. The quality of food at the restaurant need significant improvement. The number of persons in spa should be restricted for increasing the comfort.

The view from the balcony was amazing. The hotel position is very good. There are good massage services, but not included in the spa entrance.

I was expecting coffee/tea facilities in the room and a more comfortable bathroom :/

Nice pools and wellness centre, but you might need to book your treatments before the arrival. A wellplaced hotel with a national reservation park just across the street, many beautifull lakes :)

The bug on the curtain in my room and the fact that even if the heat was set on high the room temperature was not warm enough. The fact that the staff is Hungarian speaking even if we're in Romania and it was hard to communicate with some of them (especially the housekeepers) The fact that I had to pay extra for parking. The mirror in the bathroom wasn't very clean

The variety of food for breakfast

I received a twin room even though I specifically asked for a double room. They said that they are fully booked and I have to pay more to get another type (more expensive) of room in order to have the matrimonial bed, which seemed very unfair because I booked a double room from the beginning. After 1 night spent in the twin room and discussing the issue with the stuff we eventually got our double room. But not without some effort... The room was pretty cold. I am not a person that suffers from low temperatures, but going to the pool and coming back into a freezing room is not good at all. Also, only 2 pools have nice warm water, the other ones... you have to do some swimming in order to feel comfortable in the water. It seemed as a problem because my wife couldn't get into the water because it was too cold. I stayed for 8 night in the hotel and ONLY ONCE they changed our towels and bath robs. I know it only has 4*, but this is not acceptable. Every day, for two hours, there was a loud noise because of the construction site they have on the 2nd floor.

The location is great, with a great view. It has all it needs to have for a SPA category hotel: pools, fitness aream, so on.

In the bathroom the toilet bowl was cracked. The nozzle of the shower hose was also craked (room 408) Although during those three days the outside temperatures was bellow 10 Celsius degrees, in the room there was no heat. Only in the night, from 10 PM until 7 AM the next day. Although it is a four star hotel in that room (408) there is no AC. There were no slippers although there are bathrobes (in the spring, at the previous visit to the hotel, there were slippers)

3 nights between 3-7.10.2017 Positive: The location, the room, the view, the staff, the facilities. A quiet zone with friendly people. The staff speaks Romanian, Hungarian, English so it is easy to communicate with them. Very good, varied breakfast. Very close to the hotel there are good restaurants (especially Kicsigomba)

Breakfast coffee wasn't the best. Cleaning staff came to our room early in the morning (check-out is at 12:00 PM). Would be nice if the room's balcony were fitted with hangers for drying wet towels etc. The hotel in general could use some renovation.

The hotel has a dedicated parking lot. Hotel facilities are spacious, in general (room, spa etc.). Excellent location (centre of resort). Bathroom and spa area were clean. The staff was helpful and friendly.

    Nothing I can think of.

The hotel is situated a stone's throw from the famous Bear lake. The hotel guests get also free access to the lake. The spa centre of the hotel has many pools of sweet water with different temperatures as well as salty water ones taken from the lake. A couple of saunas complete the image. The room was very comfortable and clean with a balcony giving towards the parking and the mountains, quieter than those giving towards the lake and street. Everything was provided for the spa and lake (extra towels and bath robes). The meals were varied and very tasty. Dinner was strictly Romanian cuisine, breakfast was a bit more in the standard with a local touch. Both were self service. Table service (removing the used plates) was very fast. In all one can spend a pleasant time there.

Better to avoid the seasons. When the hotel is full, it is not able to service such a crowd. For example, the elevators are extermely slow. The most of visitors of the hotel are from those countries, where they have a lower level of cultural behaviour, and - sorry to say - the can not behave always in decent ways. They are noisy, can't use the wellness - especially in the sauna - in proper way, they do not use towels - even if the hotel give it free of charge. I think it is the responsibility of the staffs not just giving additional cean towels, but explain, teach and ask the visitors to use them.

The location, the kindness of the staffs are excellent. The wellness also great.

Breakfast, spa zone, too expensive for their conditions

It was our first experience with the Danibius hotel in sovata. It is a 4 star hotel but with band and old condition that worths at least 2-3 stars. The stuff at the reception was arogant. The spa zone has the following diassapointments, first off all you have to carry your vet towel in your room as they do not accept it at the spa reception, second the swimming poop with the jacuzzi and other featuers are prorgammed to work only 15 minutes each half an hour. The breakfast is the same each evey day and not worthing a 4 star hotel. The room has old furniture with dirty curtains. The bathtub is very very small!

If you've got some options don't go there. You have to double think about every single piece you are just about to touch as it's just about to fall apart. Feels like everything is so old and crapy: shower, towels, robes, bed liens, all you can see. Spa/massage is so overbooked by people from other hotels that even staying here for a couple days you won't be able have massage. And the last one: disco just under your balcony till 11 pm! Sure you won't like that!

the only good thing about this hotel is it's location.

No lifeguard near pools, which is worrying because in any country part of EU this is a MUST! My child fell and hurt herself and felt like ages until someone else found the first aider. Screaming and full of blood I needed help straightaway not having to send people to find qualified help. Another child nearly drowned and was saved by a fellow holidaymaker. Totally unacceptable by any means. It's sad because the facilities and people employed are great. The kids pool is small, has way too many steps inside, it's slippery and has a slide with steep steps, unfriendly for kids, most dangerous if they slip on it. My child slipped and bumped her chin which made her lose her front teeth. A holiday to remember...thank God she didn't crack her head, but this wouldn't have happened if the slide was properly done with children's safety in mind. The uncomfortable beds. The extra bed was even extra uncomfortable, should have a mattress on top to make it softer and less like a piece of plunk.

The spa treatments were wonderful and the staff were kind and polite, making you feel relaxed. The doctor I saw was very efficient and easy to talk to. The towels, robes and sheets were immaculate. The food was exceptionally made and waiters were quick, friendly and very helpful.
