Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MaltaAll the noises from outside and from neighbors can be a bit annoying. I guess it’s because the hotel is old but quite well maintained.
The location is amazing, room service is fast, the staff is nice. A breakfast was nice as well with a good choice.

United KingdomOnce I got into the spirit I liked pretty much everything here so hats off to Budapest Hotel.
It’s important to keep in mind that this hotel is old, in fact it probably got its 4* rating back in 1821! This hotel has its faults but it also has its charms. The hotel is secure, there is always a security guard on the door and in the evening the use of a metal detector for entering the reception! The reception feels very old world like, rustic but clearly demonstrating it once has a glorious and glamorous past. The receptionists were very efficient but not what you would call friendly but hey, this is Moscow after all! They did everything that was required in a timely efficient way so that’s fair enough for me. My room had a very Soviet era feel to it, at first, I was a bit miffed but quickly got into the spirit of the surroundings and liked it’s unique feel. The room is basic, the bed seemed very old like the rest of the furniture but the bed came with clean sheets a blanket and I slept like a baby so I have no complaints. I had a small TV and despite what other guides might tell you there were no English-speaking channels that I could find. However, I brought my laptop, so this wasn’t an issue. The Wi-Fi worked fine, a couple of interruptions where I needed to login again, but I managed to work from my room without any problems on a web-based work system which can be very data heavy so I was impressed (and it is free after all!) The fridge came in very handy; the in-room a/c was great and much needed as it hit 31 a couple of days in a row. The bathroom, well the bathroom is also basic. The bath/shower is one of those tap integrated ones, but the shower pressure was incredible, and I had no issues with having enough hot water so again, it did the job I needed it to do. My view was of the inner courtyard (I had a budget room) but it was quiet and private so no issues with that. My room needed a lick of paint and maybe new carpets but if it was modernised too much it would also lose it’s rustic Soviet Era charm and personally, I really liked this.

United KingdomThe smell in the reception area. Smell of a fresh paint in the room. Decor is tired, but I appreciate that that after refurbishment it could be a different story and different prices.
Generous room size, high ceilings, location is great, a bit noisy at night, but it's the centre of entertainment, so expected. Lots of restaurants, shops, etc. Easy to get anywhere. Price is very good value.

United Arab Emiratesthe only thing was the floor in our room making noise but it wasn’t an issue.
actually I loved everything from the first day, as i needed to see the room size the day before i move to budapest and they allowed me at midnight to check the room and this was a kind of them and the staff wasn’t rude at all from the first day until the checkout, from elizabeth, Anna and yana thanks alot for making my stay so comfortable and help me even at 4 am to finish some documents for pcr to my travel the next day. I also feel safe in the hotel as they have scanner and security also as 4 star i feel it was 5 star even the breakfast have many choices also for muslims even type of eggs and juice. they also have storage room to keep my bags when i came early morning for checking in and they gave me late checkout to have the chance to get fresh and change our clothes for airport. Thanks so much girls on reception and the security and concierge for being kind and amazing personality. I also love they way how they remind us to wear mask when we get inside the hotel in a nice way. I also forgot to mention how they fix the bathroom door next day as they fix it temporarily same day but done the next day when i was on trip. The hotel is so cozy and old style in a wonderful and amazing way.

United KingdomI liked the style of the hotel, the service was outstanding, the food was very good as all good in Russia and I liked the small touches. like whenever my room was cleaned, I had fresh water in the hotel. this is great, especially when other hotel charge you an arm and a leg for water.
The location and the style of this property is absolutely amazing. a lot of people may think that it’s dated, but the hotel is done to represent a certain time. the Soviet time and for those who know it’s special and very charming.

United StatesOn their website, it's said they do speak English, but nobody could speak English over there. For a barman it was shocking that somebody was speaking a foreign language, he couldn't understand a word. Stuff at the restaurant is not trained well on how to serve the food and how to manage the business. Amateurs. The chef doesn't know how to prepare food well, no spices and no condiments added to the dish, like ketchup and mustard and some other delicious extras. You have to ask for and the answer was "you have to ask for that" it's good I knew the Russian language. Poor others
I like the location of the hotel, it's right in the heart of the city five minutes walk to Bolshoi theater. Breakfast was good, but the same food every day.

HungaryWater: The tap water was not for drinking, we had to buy gallons of water in the nearby shop. Had I know this, I wouldn't have chosen this hotel. Smell: The room was a bit smelly, old furniture and walls and the carpet kept the smell of old times smoking. Noise: I didn't believe but the music underneath was getting louder through the night. How come neighbors not complain about it? The window didn't stop the deep bass so everything was shaking in the room at Saturday night.
Location: it's in the city center. Hotel has a fun Wes Anderson vibe. The breakfast was ok for the money.
