Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwedenGetting there is somewhat of a pain in the ass with the last few kilometres of the road being made of stone and not well suited for a normal taxi cab. Dona Maria helped us with logistics, but it's a bit expensive to move around if you don't have your own car, (40€ to airport, 1hr). Possibly during the rainy season one might need a 4 wheel drive. There are trails to Monte Cafe and Bom Successo, but these are far and not well maintained so driving back to Trinidad and then turning up will be your best choise for accessing these destinations. We were the only guests for the first 3/4 nights and only realised once other people arrived how well sound travels so should you be unlucky to have noisy neighbours, the quiet experience might turn into less pleasant one.
Welfare situated at the Roça Santa Luzia was the first stop of our Sao Tome journey and we were very pleased with the stay. The guest house is in the middle of a beautiful old farm and for birding enthusiasts like us the surroundings offered lots of close encounters with many of the Sao Tome endemics like the Giant weaver. The rooms are large and clean, bed was comfy and food served tasty.

SwedenLoved our stay here! It´s very peaceful, quiet and lovely location. There are beautiful birds and flowers all around the property. Food is amazing and owner is very kind. We loved it here and would 100 % come back if we go to Sao Tome again. The location is remote so last part of the drive is difficult, since the roads are bad.

GermanyWelfare Agroturismo was part of the São Tomé round trip I have made with my girlfriend. The hotel is small (5 rooms only) and quite remote, but surrounded by beautiful nature. It has a very beautiful garden full of flowers, vanilla, fruits… and there are several options for tours to explore the center of the island (visit of Monte Cafe and Jardim Botanico de Bom Sucesso; hike to Lagoa Amelia; or you just start a hike along the old paths directly from the agroturismo). The hosts are so lovely and great cooks. Especially the dinners were really great and diverse. I would definitely come back again!

United StatesThe accommodation was wonderful, an oasis inside of the beautiful jungle. There is a beautiful garden, filled with exotic tropical flowers. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. We had good sleeps since the nights were quiet, dark and peaceful. Maria, the host, was warm and hospitable. Food is the best! Very yummy fish and very fresh fruits and vegetables, and the coffee is the best in the world!

United KingdomThe road to get there is in terrible shape. Maria can organise a transfer and I recommend you take it. Don't do what I did and try to get a regular taxi. The driver didn't know where to go and wasn't at all happy when he saw the state of the road to get there.
Amazing location right in the heart of the rainforest. Maria is an incredible host and made me breakfast and dinner each day. It's a real slice of calm in the middle of a bustling rainforest and deserves to get a lot more business than it does (I was the only guest when I stayed). If you're thinking about going then stop shopping around and book it! You won't regret it.
