The one thing about the place you cannot beat is the pool. The location is spectacular and the views even more so! Surprisingly, it's never really crowded, and there are times you can have it to yourself. The size of the room is decent, the balcony view overwhelming, and the daily cleaning is immaculate. Sadly, this is where the positives end. The storage spaces in the room are insufficient and impractical. To reach the sockets, you need to move furniture around, and they are still very inconvenient to reach. The manual for the boiler in the bathroom is outdated, there is actually no need to do anything to turn it on. The whole place is a little run-down and some of its downfall is probably due to mismanagement of it - very few people seem to be really working there - with the exception of the cleaners, the porter and the receptionists, most others hardly acknowledge your presence, too busy with their mobile phones. This does not project a good image for the hotel. Breakfast, except for the omelettes, is a very poor buffet. Some surfaces and the floor in places are sticky and evidently not cleaned often enough. All in all, it's a place with a great potential and it is a shame that it is being wasted...

The views are absolutely stunning from this hotel, like the name suggests it is on a hill, and has superb views from balconies and especially pool area. If you don’t like steps or walking up hills this probably isn’t for you, but for those that don’t mind it’s well worth it for the views. Great value as well. The place is a little dated in places but that didn’t really bother us for the price. The pool and balcony views make up for it. Our bed was hard but that seems to be popular in Asia and we are getting used to them that way. Breakfast was fine, with beautiful views in the morning. The hotel and rest of the beach AREN’T inaccessible at high tide, like some reviews suggest, there are paths behind the beach, you just can’t walk on the sand the whole way when the tide is high. The hotel has kayaks for rent and very reasonable prices, didn’t enquire about snorkelling stuff but other hotels have gear that you can rent. You can snorkel off the beach.

Like a few have said the cocktails were a bit week. The food was ok. We also had some ants in our room/balcony but didn’t bother us.

    The view, the pool.

Ants in room, not enough charge plugs. They charge alot for a cocktail and put no booze in it. Weak drinks.

Great location at the end of the beach. Very tidal, but mornings had low tide for us, so lovely early walks along the beach and watching sunrise. Great balcony with stunning views (722). Spacious room. Comfy beds. BUT several flights of stairs up to room! Infinity pool up more flights - but worth the climb!! Lovely pool and gorgeous views. Shady area where you could watch birds in the tops of trees.

Snorkelling is not straightforward, as you need to swim round the headland when tide is right. It had faded charm and will no doubt be renovated soon. But no complaints from me!

View from the room was nice and good exercise up all the stairs :). Dinner also nice.

No beach at Hotel, you need to walk 2-300 m and other resorts block the way from the sea at tide. Need to find away behind all.

The room was functional, spacious with brilliant views across the bay. The evening meal (provided as part of half-board) was adequate although I would have got bored with it if we had stayed any longer.

The whole area was run down, the staff miserable, unhelpful with absolutely zero management. When asked they said the only manager lived in Bangkok and never visited and the staff worked very long hours with no relief - no wonder they were so miserable. Breakfasts were appalling with only one person working all the time (there were several staff in attendance) but only one did anything. The stairs (and there are hundreds) were all cracked, dirty and uneven. The beach was an eyesore and I presume a deliberate ploy to let the beech be overgrown between the ´resort´ and anywhere else at high tide to force people to stay in the miserable place. No wonder everyone went to bed by 9!

Great pool and a great quiet location. However when we were there the tide came in on a night leaving the rest of the beach restaurants and bars inaccessible. Good snorkelling

Lots of steps but there is a golf buggy Staff were very unorganised at evening meal service so be patient as the food was ok. Beware the bar shuts at 9pm

There is not much good to say about this ‘resort’. One of the single beds (they don’t do doubles) was comfortable. The view from the pool is good, but not worth staying there for. The two receptionists were a saving grace turning the rating to 2/10 from 1/10.

Absolutely awful hotel: the serve ‘set meal’ for dinner which is cold and inedible, breakfast is awful, they run out quickly, the man shouts at you if you want your eggs cooked, we don’t think they’ve ever heard of good service. The location is in tatters, covered in rubbish, there are no walkways, so you are stuck in the resort or out of the resort when tide is high unless you wish to swim home. They do not provide tide timings so it is risky to get home. Until we discovered from another resort you can part walk through the jungle, you need a torch and there is not a decent path or walk way to get through. There is glass on the ‘private beach’, and rubbish absolutely everywhere. The Rooms are very dated, one plug socket, poorly decorated and not kept up to decent standards. Overall this should not be called a ‘resort’, it is unbelievably overpriced for what it is, it Is very dated, there is no management, staff sleep on tables and are clearly over worked and tired. We heard them speak about having no breaks and working 7 days a week, no one seems to know what they’re doing. Also the bar operates random hours, all staff look pissed off with you if you ask for anything! Overall avoid at all costs.

Roof top pool, rooms spacious with good balcony.

Sunbeds need replacing, no food or drunk access at pool after 3pm. Half board evening food option poor, breakfast choice a joke for the amount paid. Clearer signage would make getting around easier.

View amazing. Staff so friendly. Breakfast decent.

The dinner was mostly good but portions a little small. They need more variety of flavours in side dishes. More variety of fruit. Coffee really bad. Needs better fruit. Needs more Thai breakfast.

The rooftop pool is beautiful, probably the best place on the island. Love it! Very comfortable beds, the best we had in Thailand. Memorable view from the balcony. Very clean, rooms were cleaned regularly. Great location, not in the "centre of attention". Welcoming stuff!

If you are looking for a fancy, brand new place, this might not be the best option. Although kept clean, hotel needs some rennovation (rooms are nice though!). To be honest, dinner / sunset restaurant in the hotel is below terrible. 🙈😅 Would advice to eat out, even if you have dinner included (what means 1 set of questionable, cold dishes for two persons - many thanks to the restaurant stuff for making this double for us! 💖). But no worries, there are wonderful places to eat just next doors, called "Light my fire" and especially the next one (!), just before the Thapwarin resort (sorry to forget the name). Beaches on Koh Ngai have sharp corrals and stones (good for snorkeling, bad for swimming and feet). If you love swimming and perfect sandy beaches, make sure to visit also Ko Kradan nearby. The island itself is more quiet and offers nice relaxation, but also totally beautiful and has nice spots for snorkeling as well!

Peaceful resort, maybe the best at the island. Very friendly and helpful staff. In the recepetion they fulfill your needs with ease, like boat tickets and tours. Very nice pool up with nice view. Good basic breakfast, dinner and from 12 to 3pm food from the pool bar. Good aircon. I would say Cliff Beach was the best resort on the island for my taste and needs. Island has no cars, no roads, no scooters. All the other resorts felt me very crowded and hectic. For me was little bit unclear, how I get to the resort, but they will bring you and your luggage as close as possible with a boat, depending of the height of the tide. You might get your feet wet anyway. Maybe there is a boat change, maybe not, but everything is well organised by the boat company and the resort.. Stairs there were some, but after couple of days, you don't recognize them anymore.

Beach by low tide is not the best, but if you walk 200m by the beach, you will find better spot to swim. Coral reefs looks very ruined everywhere. Not too much to do at island, but I suggest to make a day tour to nearby islands like Mook and Koh Kradan. Sunset boat tour with a longtail boat is a must ! I walked one day to Paradise Beach, there is a small jungle path, starting behing Tanya Resort in the end of the beach. Plastic waste from the sea, is a more or less big problem on all islands in Thailand. Koh Mook was extreme with the waste problem, even it had some character.

Incredible location! The views from our room and the pool are great. I loved the feeling of seclusion on the island.

The facilities in general are a little dated and are probably not up to the standard of some luxury travelers (old bathrooms for example). But we didn't mind given the location. Lots of mosquitoes too

The lady at reception was incredible helpful and kind. The room had everything you needed. Comfortable bed. Didn’t feel overlooked.

I didn’t think much of the food, it was quite bland, and the set menu wasn’t great. Tried to order off of the paid menu but wasn’t able to for some reason. The drinks weren’t good either. The room had a damp smell.

Amazing views from the room (ours was quite high up) and pool area

A little jaded -could be a fantastic place with some investment. Not the easiest location to access being situated at the top end of the island and several flights of stairs to access rooms - not a negative ut something to be aware of.
