Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe property is located in prime position about 3 mins walk to Kamala beach and 2 mins from shops and restaurants. The property was spotless and cleaned daily. There was 2 bottles of water in fridge everyday. The property was well air Conditioned. I would fully recommend this property to solo travellers or couples.

NorwayA bit noise from traffic, husband didn’t notice I just used earplugs at night. For some, very steap stairs to rooms
Very central location in Kamala, just 5min walk to the beach and restaurants, bars shops and massage just minutes away. The owners are lovely and so helpful! Comfortable bed. Spacious room and big refrigerator! Would stay again!

South KoreaCleaning was generally good, but when I left one morning with a giant dying roach on its back on my floor, it was still there, though dead, after I returned and the room had been "cleaned", though when I mentioned it, it was removed. I couldn't find the key to the safe, and it turned out there was no duplicate/backup. The owner lent me some cash for the day and ended up cutting the lock and charging me nominally for the replacement (which had 3 keys). This is of course not reflective of the property, but there was a horrible accident in the middle of the day (car flipped over) right in front of the guesthouse. No one was hurt, but it was disturbing to see, and a good warning to always be on alert. The bathroom/shower didn't have a sink-- that was in the kitchenette (also one outside on the patio), which was interesting. Finally, as I usually do--home or traveling-- , I bought cat food so I could feed local community cats, and I kept the cat food in my room, of course. I found it a little odd that I was warned not to feed cats in my room (the property has a cat-- but I am not sure how they would even think I could get a cat in my room as it would have to go down the whole hall or swim across the canal. It seemed a little invasive though( the main bag of cat food was in my room, but nothing that I mentioned to anyone!).
Great location between the main road and the beach-- on a generally quiet street (no sidewalks, though, so be careful!). The owners/managers were helpful. I had an accident before I came, and walking was difficult, and they were able to get me a ground floor room way in the back. The room was big, with a kitchenette (nothing to wash dishes, though). The fridge and kettle were nice. In general, the place was clean (see below for exception) and had relatively few bugs! especially as my patio overlooked a canal, with some vegetation an views into the hills. I enjoyed sitting out there and reading. My room was very quiet. Everything was in walking distance. There was a nice dive shop and hair shop close by, and plenty of massage places and restaurants/bars.

NetherlandsThe bed was a bit tough, but was not a huge problem. During the night it can be bit noisy due to scooters too.
The owners were so sweet and helpful. I checked out late and they had no problems with it. I also had breakfast there with toast and home-made jam that they made, and fruits from their garden. My interactions with them made my stay.
