It was an accommodation where we experienced Kars province completely. From the moment we entered the hotel, everything was like a fairy tale. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The view was so beautiful that we watched it for hours. Our walk in the historical places around the hotel was very nice. In the evening, you can spend hours by the fire in the gardens by the river. The employees were very helpful and our conversations were very entertaining. I can't find words to say about breakfast, I will miss it so much. Her şey için çok teşekkür ederiz!

Breakfast was very good! The staff were friendly, helpful and always in a good demeanour. Sembra, Akif and Maskat were just 3 of the many staff who made us feel very welcome. The location is gorgeous. We were there in late October and the grounds were covered in red, gold and brown autumn leaves with a creek nearby. We enjoyed this view while sipping tea and keeping warm next to the brassiers burning with wood.

Nothing, it was all perfect.

Our stay here was an absolutely wonderful experience. We were very late checking in and this was no problem whatever. In fact, they took their own initiative and ordered a taxi for us from the station. When we got there, they contacted a local restaurant that was actually closed and persuaded them to cook a wonderful meal for us. They got us a taxi there and the food was ready when we arrived. The taxi waited for us and dropped us back to the hotel 20 minutes later. They also arranged a taxi for us for the following day to take us from Kars to the border, crossing into Georgia at Sarpi. They honestly could not have done more or been more obliging. The breakfast was absolutely incredible and the hotel itself is truly beautiful. I could not recommend this hotel more highly, and I am very grateful to Mustafa, to Ibrahim and all the staff that made our stay so special. If I am ever back in Kars, this is the only place I would stay.

The staff was very friendly, accommodating, and so helpful. The hotel is in a lovely location, overlooking a river. I really liked my room and found the bed to be very comfortable. It was a fantastic stay!

incredible service provided from the first moment till our departure by staff, most notably Ahmet who was very responsive to our needs, warm, kind and spoke good English, probidades great recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. amazing hospitality from the rest of the staff especially at breakfast! the room is full of charm, well stocked and very clean. great shower and impeccably clean bathroom. you cannot chose a better location in Kars, right by the river. the history of the building that has been lovingly restored adds to the hotel’s charm. 10 stars!

Outstanding facilities in historic building. Amazing view and sounds of the river. The staff and Ahmet were professional and generous to us and enabled a late check out which gave us some extra time to explore the city. Would not hesitate to stay here.

the building is stunningly restored. the area is tranquil, around the corner from the main sights but private feeling. rooms were clean, private and comfortable. beds were comfy. Ahmet at reception went absolutely above and beyond to assist with our stay, including assisting with transport options when information was hard to find. I’d stay here when in Kars every time.

This hotel is perfect.

The hospitality of the hotel was impressive. They sent a taxi to pick us up, when the bus dropped us 73 km from Kars. The room was very comfortable and the staff went out of the way to make sure we had a wonderful stay. The location of the hotel is excellent; on one side the Kars castle and on the other the Kars river. The dining hall is richly furnished. It is pleasant to sit on the lawn and drink coffee. The star of the hotel is Ahmet at the reception. He speaks very good English and is most helpful and friendly. We enjoyed talking with him and learning about Kars and Ani. The taxi attached to the hotel was very useful for 3 days in picking us up from a remote place, exploring Ani and Mt. Ararat and finally dropping us off at the airport. Overall, this hotel was one of the best we have stayed in in Turkey.

The location is excellent: right at the historical center of Kars, but because it is behind the castle, it is isolated from much of the hustle and bustle. The staff bends over backwards to help. Historical building is amazing!

My daughter and I took a mother-daughter trip to Eastern Turkey. I searched for a comfortable place with standards suitable for children to stay in and I am so thankful for choosing Hotel Katerina Sarayi. Though Van is a more popular tourist destination now thanks to the Dogu Expres train, it is still in Eastern Turkey - a part of the country that has been severely neglected. As such, it is important to choose your accommodations wisely. This hotel is an excellent choice and I would venture THE best choice. It is clean, comfortable,well-appointed, and small enough to still feel like a boutique hotel experience. It is a short walk next to the river to get to the center of the historical district. In fact, we could look up from our room and see the walls of the Kars fortress. We loved walking and, if you prefer, taxis are readily available at the hotel. The staff is so kind and was extremely helpful arranging transpiration to Ani for us - especially Ahmet at the front desk (who speaks English fluently - which can be a rarity in Turkey in general). After our 3 day tour of historical Armenian sites in the region, we were welcomed back like relatives. We had a lovely time chatting with staff members and guests, not to mention, my daughter loved playing in the grass with the hotel dogs into the night. Breakfast was tasty and the options were plentiful. This hotel will be our first choice when we definitely return with my husband on a future trip.

Staying here feels like meeting Tchechow or Tolstoi for breakfast. Not too far from centre if you walk on the left side of the river towards city centre. Very helpful staff (Ilyas).

Lots of mosquitos due to the river passing by the hotel.

Staff was very very helpful and responsive, they helped to find restaurants, shops (Kars is famous for its cheese and honey), sites to visit. They also arranged an early check in for us. Special thanks to Ilyas, Dilan, Rahat and others. The location of the hotel is also very good, cozy and at the same time, easy to reach main destinations.
