Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

KuwaitLack of electrical connections for charging mobiles / spart watches beside the bed ( room no, 204) , also the electrical kettle had to shifted to power point outside its intended place. Foul/stale smell in the bathroom was bit annoying.
Location, internal decorations / get up and very warm receptions and complete commitment to serve the guests besides the tastefully done toilet area ( big size toilet). It has good collection of books are the lobby, some are excellent guide for tourists. Cabbie service was icing on the cake as Taxis cannot go near this hotel.

South AfricaI stayed in the hotel maybe 15 years ago. Today it's looking a bit faded here and there and could do with some refurbishment. The bathroom was a bit tatty, the jacuzzi didn't work. I use a wheelchair ... the hotel is definitely not wheelchair friendly. Helpful staff partly compensated but from the front entrance onwards the wheelchair could not easily go. In fairness they warned about this on Booking.com but in 2024 it is not acceptable. Nor can the hide behind "heritage". Simple wooden ramps ... not permanent fixtures ... can easily remedy the matter. They should pay someone like me to conduct an accessibility audit and advise on how to make the hotel accessible without contravening heritage regulations. It doesn't help that taxis cannot access the street. There's a hotel buggy but it's a hassle to get out and about.
Breakfast good and staff in breakfast room very attentive and helpful. Two of the front desk staff remembered me, and I them, from my last visit 15 years ago ... that was very gratifying and made me feel at home. The Sultan Ahmet neighbourhood is incredible for its history and beauty. The T1 tram is close by and enables good access to a large swathe of the city, both sides of Haliç, and to the main ferry stations for both sides of Boğazi. It's very touristic but enables one to visit nearly all of the old city sights really easily.

IrelandAbsolutely brilliant location in Istanbul. Easy walking access to many of the key sites and the tram to go further afield. The staff could not have been more helpful. If you are a first-time visitor to this city, this would be an excellent choice.

Perfect location. Close to anywhere important in Istanbul. The room was gorgeous and comfortable. It had a large Turkish bath and a shared balcony. It was cold outside but the room was always warm enough. Breakfast was nice. The staff was kind and so helpful. I liked bath amenities.

ItalyThe only negatives I have to mention is that is not adapted to people with mobility issues (steps). But then Istanbul isn’t 😁 and the hotel did their best to help!

Ottoman Hotel Imperial offers a prime location in Sultanahmet, just beside the Hagia Sophia. Opening the window reveals a breathtaking view of this iconic landmark right in front of your eyes. The front desk staff and buggy/bell boys are exceptionally helpful and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience of the stay. The hotel's classic feel allows you to truly experience the historical vibes of the region. The breakfast selection is delightful, featuring a mix of Turkish specialties and continental options. The breakfast area offers a stunning view, enhancing the dining experience. While the rooms may be on the smaller side due to the hotel's age and central location, they are impeccably maintained and spotlessly clean, ensuring a comfortable stay

ItalyRooms on the lower floors are street facing directly in front of the tram, which runs from 6am till 1am. Its extremely noisy - don't expect much sleep. The rooms on lower levels are run down. AC in one of the rooms was not working, despite several attempts by staff to fix it. Room smelled musty, probably due to AC. Breakfast was disappointing in variety and indifferent quality.
Location is truly exceptional. Hotel has elegant charm. Restaurant is excellent, if pricey.

United StatesHotel is ready for renovation (scheduled). Our room carpet had large spots and was very worn. Some Smokey smells snuck into room despite being non smoking hotel.
Breakfast had all the right ingredients but service was spotty/ cleanliness of area so so. Food average. It came with the room and provided coffee and fuel. Dinners and lunches were great! Our shower looked like a Turkish bath with marble slabs and marble sink with brass fixtures. We had a French balcony and windows overlooking Sinan’s madrasa. In 5 minutes walk we could be at one of the major historic sites. The street we were on was quiet.

RomaniaSome items are old and in desparate needs of refurbishment, like spotted and weary carpets, tiles, furniture, which badly influence the overall high attention for cleanliness and high comfort. The breakfast is average, with some poor quality stuff.
We had room with direct view to Aya Sofia, enjoying the best of hotels very good location, next to the most of the famous attractions. Hotel and room are nicely decorated in ottoman style, good comfort and excellent staff, always helpful and hospitable.

United StatesUpon arrival, we didn’t get the exact room what we booked on their website. Our room was so small that with our luggage we couldn’t even walk in the room. Also, there was strong smoking smell inside the room. We asked at the desk for bigger room but we were told all the rooms in this hotel are same size. Next day, we requested to the manager and he moved us in the bigger room. It was Comparatively bigger room but our window was facing the main bazaar and train station. The staff at restaurant was neither professional nor friendly.
Great location.

NetherlandsCommunicate clearly that on arrival we need to come to a certain station to be picked up by the buggy. The zone is pedestrian only and with our suitcases it was a challenge to get to the hotel on foot (around 500m) after disembarking the taxi.
