Oh well if I have to pick on something, may be there is no you tube on the telly? It's not smart TV - it's not hook up to the internet. And also may be the coffee capsules may not be enough? It's 2 per room. And it's not original nepresso so I have to keep pressing the 'brew' button if you see what I mean.

This hotel delivers on 5 stars status. Room was excellent with super comfy beds and they accommodated our young family well with cots and extra beds. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice (albeit it’s pricy in Taiwan terms). Views from our room of Taipei 101 made it worth us splashing out!

Booked afternoon tea with front desk- showed up- no booking. Didnt have enough "sets" for 3 of us. Booked on Wed for Sat afternoon. Got told we should have booked Tues at the latest? Weird....Also required to put a $2700 aud deposit when checking in- despite rooms being paid in full. I have always left credit card details at check in but never had that much taken out of my account. The money was returned 24 hours after check out- but still....

Exceptional hotel. The room was the size of a house! The Club room and value was excellent. The service and staff were wonderful. The breakfast was an incredible offering of many dishes from different cultures. An all around superb hotel.

The rooms are very dim. There’s no way around it. Hotels tend to be dim but our rooms were to the point where it just felt dark all the time. While the lights should be sufficient, we suspect the primary reason for this is the very heavily tinted windows on the property. I can’t stress how heavily tinted they are. Related to the tinted windows is how it affects the marvellous views they have. If you’re thinking of booking a Taipei 101 view, think twice. On very bright and sunny days, it should still be decent - albeit with some photo editing. But if you’re hoping to see it at night? Good luck. There’s no amount of camera trickery that will make those photos turn out well. You’re better off just going up to the rooftop to enjoy the night view. The rooms, while clean, do show signs of age and the interiors are very 90s looking.

We booked two suites and they were both spacious; the layout of the suites were well-suited for families with bathrooms en suite and in the living room area. The swimming pool (which we didn’t get a chance to try despite staying 7 nights) looked very nice and as it is situated on the rooftop, had excellent views. There were also two terrace areas on the rooftop of which one offered great views of the 101. The gym is serviceable and generally on par equipment wise with other hotel gyms - meaning it’s not great if you’re a serious gym goer. The breakfast buffet selection was good and suitable for kids.

Couldn’t get a booking for reunion dinner at the Shang Palace on 28/01/25 cos full booked. Should have done an earlier booking!

Staff at this hotel from checkin, room service, bell boy, cleaning ladies, lounge staff, all gave excellent service & courtesy as expected of a 5 star hotel! We enjoyed our stay there at the Shanghai-La Far Eastern Taipei.

Minor observations- Our room is a Grand Deluxe Family Room for 4 adults. It was baffling to find fruits catered for 3 and coffee pods for 2. Two of our four luggages have nowhere to place but on the floor.

The room is spacious, well furnished with armchairs, a bay window seat with a beautiful view to the city, and Taipei 101! Two big windows overlooking the city with morning sunlight streaming in, how fantastic is that! The beds are big and comfortable - good night sleep! Hotel staff in general are good, some are better than others! A big shout out is reserved tor Sarah, who was on lifeguard duty on our last night at the rooftop pool. She went above and beyond to make my family feel special ! Thanks!
