Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IrelandOur shower leaked all over the room. We attempted multiple ways to stop it. We didn’t bother mentioning to staff as it was down to the structure of the shower so it could not be helped, but it was annoying. Food was nice but could have a bit more variety.

It was exceptional, with such attention to detail. The location was perfect and amazing views. The room was spacious and authentic. The thing that makes it truly special are the staff. They always had a smile and did everything in their power to make it a truly memorable, perfect holiday . It really did feel like paradise.

NetherlandsNothing too crazy but note the relatively steep stairs to the beach if you are not as mobile.
Charismatic hotel with homey feeling. One of our favourites on the island. Great to walk on the beach when there are low tides and great for swimming when high tide. There is mainly clear sand in front of the hotel. We got a room upgrade and we loved the complimentary boat ride.

United KingdomI didn't like leaving. That's it, I can't fault it !
What can I say, this hotel was an absolute dream. Especially being solo I felt like this was home. From the beautiful reception I received by the ladies. To the amazing room that was kindly decorated for me to the sweetest waitresses and a big mention to Salome. She was an absolute star that made my stay all the better. The decor in this hotel was fabulous! Honestly the best I've ever stayed at and I was gutted to leave! Thank you to everyone that made this special for me!

LebanonMy stay at Be Zanzibar Boutique Hotel was nothing short of magical. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed not just as a guest, but as family. The hotel itself is a hidden gem—beautifully designed, serene, and surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Every corner exudes charm and tranquility. What truly made the experience exceptional, however, was the incredible team that brings the place to life. A special shoutout to Camille, the General Manager, whose warmth, attention to detail, and passion for hospitality are truly inspiring. Camille went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. The staff were equally amazing—Jeff, Khadija, Saluma, Haitham, and everyone else whose names I might have missed—each one of them was friendly, professional, and genuinely caring. Whether it was arranging excursions, preparing delicious meals, or simply checking in to make sure we were happy, they made every moment feel special. If you’re looking for a place to relax, reconnect, and feel completely at home in paradise, look no further than Be Zanzibar. I can’t wait to return!

United Arab EmiratesNothing at all! Only some areas of improvement. The hotel is stunning and peaceful but there were times were the guests were children and would disturbing. No fault of the hotel ofcourse but would be good to let guests with children know. The food could use a little more spices and would love to see more authentic Swahili dishes. Turn down service is upon request so make sure you ask 😊 Not a deal breaker but for those who drink alcohol, there is no alcohol in the hotel itself but you can bring your own.
Loved everything about Be Zanzibar! From the moment we arrived till we sadly had to check out. The views are unbelievable! The sunrise is a must. The rooms have everything you need and is clean! The restaurant has good food and the breakfast is something I looked forward to. We went sailing and the experience was great (thank you captain Abdul!) The clay making actives was a very nice touch (south out to mama Ameenah!) The staff were amazing and would know who you are which was good customer service. Very accommodating. The owner of the this lovely boutique hotel is on ground and also attentive to the guest (ask him about the story of the hotel 😉) Overall a must when you are in Zanzibar!

GermanyThe service standards were not the highest, the staff was always smiling but sometimes a bit lost. Example: we didn‘t receive an introduction to the hotel so we didn’t know we needed to leave our room keys at the reception to receive room service. So the next day we left the keys after breakfast and came back before dinner. The room was not cleaned and our key was lost at reception. Even after that they didn’t manage to clean the room during dinner but only after. This is only one example and for sure we still had a nice stay, but the service could be a bit more attentive in the future.
The design of the hotel merged perfectly into the laid back vibe of the island. The staff was always kind and the food was good.
