Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaPerhaps some more furniture for sitting and spreading out in the room would be a useful improvement.
Cannot say enough good things about this place. We were made extremely welcome on arrival and the lovely staff looked after us very well during our two night stay. The room was large with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast and in house meals were fabulous and served in a welcoming meals area, and there are several spots for relaxing outdoors. The hotel is15-20 minutes from central Arusha with very limited nearby facilities but this was an attraction - surrounded by friendly local inhabitants and farmland and away from the busy city. Could easily have stayed longer.

GermanyNothing - if you go there: you probably know it’s not located in the city center!
The view to Mt. Meru was special - the room really comfortable and cute style. Especially the staff needs to be mentioned: really doing their best, friendly and heartwarming!

Excellent hotel, worth the drive (slightly further away from the center in a pretty, quiet neighborhood, 15-minute drive from the airport). Spacious and very clean room, furnished with taste (also, huge bed), very friendly staff, excellent food. I loved everything about it!

United KingdomFor the price, it was very good! They had some building works going on in prep for high season but it didn’t go on until late nd they were respectful.
Comfortable clean rooms, very welcoming staff and great restaurant. Location is not in main Arusha and you would need to get a taxi to get to Arusha, but we really liked that it was further out and amongst natural beauty. The restaurant were able to make vegan food for me too.

BelgiumThis is a very special place. A small scale lodge where you get your own little house. They are large, comfortable and clean. Most people generally stay here only one or two nights as a stop over during the Safari. We stayed a whole week. They really give you the feeling you are welcome, almost at home. Reception and bar are open 24/7. Basically, you can get everything you want there. The main attraction for us was the food. The kitchen here is better than any restaurant that I know of in Arusha. The one thing I can still not believe is the price. It is not even half the price of any similar lodge or hotel in the region. Thank you Yann, Joshepha and the entire team for unforgettable stay ❣️

KenyaInternet was quite a challenge if you wholly dependend on that to do your work. But the host was able to give me mifi to use during my stay there. I wish the menu had more variety especially on proteins, for someone like me who likes beef that was not available on the menu for the time i was there. Its also quite a distance from the main city, so if you would like to shop or go into town you would have to do like a 15 minute by taxi or use public means which would take longer.
I loved the friendliness of the staff who went above and beyond to ensure that i was comfortable. I loved the cleanliness of the space and the quiteness on most days. Very delicious food, loved the rice and the beans in coconut milk. Really enjoyed it.

BelgiumAbsolutely nothing. We highly recommend this place!
We booked Dam Stan Hotel as a couple staying for a full week given preparations for moving to our own house in Arusha (flying back and forth in-between the move). And we could NOT have been happier with this choice. The stay was absolutely wonderful, with owner Yann welcoming guests and the hotel's staff going the extra limit to make us feel at home anytime (huge asante sana for Joy and Jozefa here). We will not be needing a hotel in the future anymore, but we will most definitely be coming back just to enjoy the food, atmosphere, a massage and pedicure, and a chat with our wonderful friends there. Can't wait to see you all back soon!

United KingdomA bit far from the city and on a dirt road, so you need a taxi to get there. A fan in the room would have been helpful but we managed it as it was cooler during the night.

BelgiumAn excellent stay, only the shower/bathroom some might find to be basic. Outdoor areas at the hotel had a lot of building/construction materials lying around, but this did not affect our stay.
Wonderful stay near Arusha! The perfect base for safaris and other activties in the surrounding area. Comfortable room and the hotel staff was warm and accomodating. Lots of options, including vegetarian food, in the onsite restaurant.
