Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The towels were stained the blanket was a bit worn out
The stuff were very friendly and VERY helpful!!! The room was spacious and clean. Hot water was available fast. Facility was secure and close to stores and bank.

Noisy terrace due the cars and tuk tuk
I come back at this hostel twice. Excellent position. Nearby restaurants and coffee shops. The room was spacious and comfortable. Plugs, mosquito net and ventilator. Safe box in common bathroom. Hot Water working. Very good breakfast in the terrace. The workers Happiness, Mwesa, Gift and Gladness were soo helpful, gentle and friendly!! Thank u

Exchange rate they charge for room pricing is higher than actual exchange rate at forex bureau
Location is in the center of Moshi so it's very convenient to go to the bus station Room is clean & comfortable

While inside was nice and comfortable, the exterior looked a little rundown and was actually a little scary at first.
The breakfast was fine. It was nice to have a kitchen for lunch and dinner.

The hostel is located on a busy road and many of the rooms are front facing with windows that do little to block out noise. Bring ear plugs. There are no lockers in your room to lock up valuables. And I always recommend the addition of hooks (coats, towel, sweaters, etc). This hostel could use them both in the room and in the showers.
Dinner was excellent and at a fair cost compared to other places I had eaten. The painted door made it easy to find, though the buzzer was a bit of a search so I could be let in. All beds in my room had mosquito nets. Wifi was strong.

A bit loud, because the main street of Moshi center is directly in front of the windows

The showers have seen better days. Not the hostel's fault but you need earplugs due to the street noise.
Can't ask for better location. Food was nice. 24h security guard hanging out downstairs.

The hostel is located in the downtown area with many sellers etc in a busy neighborhood. There is a lot of street noise and the building has louvred glass windows so you hear everything from the street as well as from the neighboring rooms like snoring. Ear plugs are a must.
The room was very clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The room was a decent size (I had a single) and it was an affordable place to stay at the start of my trip. There are good places to eat within walking distance and it’s close to the market.

Nothing not to like here apart fromm traffic noise but that is normal being in town centre
Close to bus station and central for walking around. The most comfortable hostel bed ever

Friendly staff. Chef Mwese made my stay extra special with the good food as per my dietary restrictions, as well as awesome smoothies. I look forward to coming back for more. Thank you too to Salma and Mariamu who were super friendly and helpful during my stay.

Noise from the street can be tough to handle sometimes but after dark it gets better. We had a room facing back alley but still road noise was quite loud. It is not owners fault though.
Good localization, in the centre. Nice, freshly prepared breakfast with eggs to your liking :) Very clean and comfortable room. Spacious bathroom with good water pressure. On top of that burgers and milkshakes served are very good!
