Some seaweed & plastic rubbish on beach but not enough to cause any problem. We didn’t expect any Maasai beach boys at this quieter location but they were still there but thankfully less persistent and fewer in number than when we stayed at Kiwengwa. So glad we didn’t choose Nungwi or other busy beaches. This place was very special!

Great remote location, very friendly staff who really worked hard to maximise the enjoyment of our holiday. Mr. Hanna, the Restaurant Manager, was very friendly and helpful and gave us a good all inclusive deal during our stay. Tasty buffet food from a good friendly chef, with amazing sea views from the restaurant. A beach with real character with the Kizimkazi locals. The animation team, Halid & Pascal were fun, friendly and encouraging to take part in activities like aqua gym, botcha (boules) and fun African dancing! We really enjoyed the relatively quiet and authentic Zanzibar experience, which had far fewer pestering Maasai beach boys than other resorts (& the few who were there seemed more relaxed & less pushy!). Great for swimming at high tide and good for beach exploring, walking and running at low tide. Useful to have a pool, also with the sea view.

I was generally happy with everything. However, it would be nice to have complementary water daily. Some of the mosquito nets didn't close properly so this should be sorted to prevent mosquito bites. The WiFi wasn't free - even though we paid, it was slow and disconnected frequently.

The location of the resort by the beach was amazing! The grounds were well kept and had a variety of beautiful flowers and plants. Meals were tasty with a variety of dishes. The chef, Hanna always welcomed us with a big smile, and was available to check that we were happy with the meal. We enjoyed the live band entertainment and dancing in the evening. Staff were friendly and always around to assist or get us involved in games e.g. volley ball and darts.

All things in this hotel are exceptional. The location, the staff ( the head manager, Mr. Hanna and the cheif Mr. Amr), the meals, the veiw and the hotel is like a very magnificent garden. It is like a haven on earth. I wish to stay forever in this hotel. It was a great choice I am very thankful to all staff.

There is no ATM machine in that part of the town. I suggest everyone to bring some cash as well for daily use.

The staff were like family. Very friendly and attentive. They really try their best to ensure you are comfortable. Clearly the facility is well maintained and clean. Food was also very nice. Like the food a lot. Room size was also very spacious Special thanks to Hanna from management. He seems to be on top of things and manages the facility as his own home.

The hotel is truly the gold star 🌟 of Zanzibar. It is located next to the beautiful white beach. The staff were impeccable. They were both kind and professional. Chef Amr is a great star chef. His warmth and love towards his guest can be tasted in his cooking. The management was dedicated to ensuring we were comfortable. The place was very clean. We enjoyed the game nights as well. It was an amazing stay. We wish we could have stayed longer. Ooh, and the sunsets by the beach are breathtaking 😀

I really liked that the property is right on the beach, very clean, peaceful, and surrounded by beautiful green areas. It was quiet and relaxing — a perfect place to unwind. The staff was excellent — very polite, friendly, and always helpful. Special thanks to Mr. Farag, the hotel manager, for his warm hospitality, and to Chef Amr for the delicious food — we truly appreciated their efforts in making our stay memorable.

We really enjoyed our stay at the property. The resort is located right on the beach, which gave us beautiful views and easy access to the sea. We especially appreciated the peaceful and quiet atmosphere, as well as the clean surroundings and the lush green areas throughout the property. 10/10 — Unforgettable stay! While booking, I was simply looking for a reasonably priced beachfront hotel, but Mandarin Resort exceeded all my expectations. White sand, a crystal-clear turquoise ocean right at your doorstep, and a breathtaking view — it truly felt like paradise. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive. Every request was met with a prompt and polite “Of course, as you wish,” which made me feel genuinely cared for. Although the hotel offers an all-inclusive option, I preferred ordering à la carte — every dish was fresh and absolutely delicious. The rooms were spacious and spotless, the beds comfortable enough, and the pool impeccably clean. Everything contributed to a relaxing and memorable holiday. I will definitely come back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for high-quality, heartfelt hospitality.

The property located on the beach is stunning. The rooms are spacious, clean and wonderful. Staff has gone beyond to make my stay incredible. During my stay I received great news and Mohamed has gone an extra mile to celebrate this in a way I enjoy; with whiskey and cigar. Suleman and Raquel have always had smile and did everything needed to make sure my stay here has been beyond expectations. Head chef Amr has surprised me and some other guests with Egyptian food, Swahili chicken. Everything has been delicious. This has been by far one of my favorite places to stay.

Really pleasant stay in an exceptional resort and location, calm and restfull during the Easter holidays. Very polite staff and thoughtful manager, open to any kind of questions and suggestions. Also one of the few resorts that remain open all year which is great from an employment point of view for the local staff members. Thumbs up :-)

Food is not the highest quality but all does the job with some being very nice (pizza was surprisingly good albeit not one for the purists).

It was really perfect for me. The resort is right on the Kizimkazi beach. And compare to jambiani and nungwi beach, it was much cleaner and nicer to swim in. In general, it is a very quiet and peaceful place. The crew is so welcoming and kind, including the manager who really cared about my stay. The pool is great, and there is a bar next to it, so you can enjoy having some drinks there. The breakfast was very diverse- different kind of cheese, fresh omelette and bread. At one night there was a band, and the guests and the crew were dancing together. The room was very clean and equipped with minibar and smart tv. If im going back to Zanzibar, its only to this place.

My family and I were made to feel welcome and extra care and attention was shown to my kids. I made a last minute request for an early check-in and the were able to accommodate my request. The GM and the staff were all extremely friendly and always eager to help. I would highly recommend this place, and we will certainly be returning next time we visit Zanzibar.

We spent 9 wonderful days in the Mandarin Resort. The staff was super friendly, the food delicious and the beach is a dream. Our children loved playing in the pool and during the low tide we could do beautiful walks in the sand. The water in the ocean is so nice to swim in, clean, warm and blue. We will always remember this perfect vacation and hope we can come back one day. Thank you to all the people working at the Mandarin Resort!

Was a bit of power outage. This is common with the island. The resort quickly restored it with their generator.

If you dreamt of a destination wedding, a honeymoon or just need a getaway, this is the place for you. I couldn’t find any fault with this facility.
