Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomFinding the place proved difficult. It's a very spread out, very rural area so worth preparing well and leaving time. It would help if the name Amini Lodge was used and better signposted as the term Masaai Lodge is too open to misinterpretation by locals.
Good food, great rural location, friendly staff

EgyptEverything!
What a great lodge to begin a most remarkable journey in Tanzania! The buildings are terrific in Maasai style. But what is the most important thing: it’s run by the Maasai and lovely taken care of! We loved to sit on our terrace and watch Kilimanjaro. We enjoyed the food, drinks and hospitality. We will come again, is gods willing!

United StatesThis place in very remote and the roads are full of rocks very bumpy.
We had a wonderful 3 days at the Original Maasai Lodge and we enjoyed learning more about the Maasai people who are very happy and outgoing people. Very peaceful place to stay in Tanzania. Located between the world famous Kilimanjaro mountain and the the Mauro mountains. Our chef prepared really delicious food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The portion were very big, fresh and tasty and included in our booking. We had a fantastic staff: Mariam and Leah our waitress and bartender are very friendly and helpful. Lowassa and Phillip our drivers and guides were a lot of fun and informative. We had a super fun Maasai dance every evening around sunset followed by Maasai TV (large campfire and storytelling). A nice dinner was next. We had a nice mud cottage with running water and electricity. Everything was fantastic and we really enjoyed ourselves in the wonderful clean pool. We enjoyed a great game drive before going to the airport.

United KingdomThis a totally unique place to stay and one of the highlights of our trip so far It is run by the local maasai and is a community project which generates multiple benefits for the local Maasai community It is in a remote location between Meru and Kilimanjaro reached by some very rough roads - Landcruiser needed. You do wonder where you are going but it is well sign posted. The welcome is warm colourful and musical ! The accommodations are clean, well provided with fantastic views The staff are all relaxed, friendly and very welcoming. The free morning guided bush walk and the evening spear throwing are also a high light The food is good and the Maasai BBQ around the fire with Maasai TV not to be missed. Two nights here is needed and a great place to chill out and relax Safaris are great but this provides another dimension to your visit to Tanzania

United KingdomWe loved every part of this. We really didn't want to leave. The food is incredible, 3x courses linch and dinner. Would be beneficial to maybe have 2x meal options at the beginning of the day, which would reduce wastage. As we aren't great varied eaters, the option would have been useful for us.
Went beyond our expectations, it was the most beautiful place we've ever stayed in, the staff are incredible, attentive and made the stay 6* From morning safari walk, too spear throwing, maasai dance and group get together around the firepit. The whole time, we felt like we were living experiencing maasi Village, with the exception of the level of subtle luxury and good standard of food. All the best from maasai White Boy and Mum Charlie (our names)

BelgiumWe absolutely loved it!
Everything! The perfect ending of our trip in Tanzania / Zanzibar... A unique experience where you get an impression of the life of Maasai... Off course everything is adapted to the needs of a tourist traveler, but nevertheless the authenticity and details are overwhelming... and the view from your room when you wake up is simply amazing! The crew have a lovely energy and they take you on a bushtour, spearthrowing, ... and the food is also amazing! The fact that this project supports Maasai and education only makes it more unique!

United Statesplease pay your workers more money. the owner is a white Australian woman who supposedly doesn’t pay well which is sad
the place is one of a kind. the staff was AMAZING and everyone went above and beyond. the food was delicious and although location isn’t ideal, this place is an experience so don’t expect to stay here and like site see everyday elsewhere, doesn’t make much sense. although they offer a lot of excursions through the lodge. we stayed for 3 nights and 2 days and hiked Kilimanjaro while staying here. we went during a dry season and it was cold but that was to be expected given the lodging style

GermanyAbsolutely no negative points.
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with such great hospitality and warmth, that we felt home right away. The lodge is set beautifully in the hills between Mount Meru & Mount Kilimanjaro and the room - a Masaai Boma - was beautifully decorated with lots of love, warm water and very comfy beds. There are lots of activities that you can do; we arrived around 11 am after a night-flight and immediately were greeted with coffee, Tea & self-made cookies. In the afternoon we took a Bush walk with a Masaai guide and walked close to giraffes, saw gazelles, etc. The spear-throwing competition later on and the Masaai singing and dancing was really fun and very entertaining - and the best, happiest that we witnessed during out trip to Tanzania. The food was very delicious, self-cooked and included some local & traditional specialties. Overall, this was such a wonderful stay - we wished we had stayed for more than just one night. An absolute recommendation on your Tanzania trip!!!! Thank you to the entire team for such a wonderful time!
