How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Verified reviewAbsolutely first-class accommodation and service. Romantic nice clean bungalows with cozy atmosphere, 3 mins walk to the beach. But what surprised me most was how attentive and kind all the staff members were, every day they surprised us with something. Cold ice towels and fresh fruit to the pool for example. Bungalow cleaned twice a day. The quality of the service is something we saw only at 5star american ocean cruise ships. Excellent breakfast, restaurant has one of the best seafood pasta I ever had. MITI is able to accomodate max 18 people in 9 bungalows and every moment there is at least 6-7 staff members looking after everything. You guys do an amazing job, made our stay so great! Easy to fall in love with MITI.
There is really nothing to complain about.

Limited breakfast options, no decent barista coffee, shower and towels were not that pleasant. Only a bottle of water is provided at arrival and you have to buy some for the rest of your stay. Narrow street leading to the beach is very dirty (full of trash).

Verified reviewWe absolutely loved our stay here! Every single one of staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast on the patio every morning was delicious with great service and options to choose from. It was so lovely to be offered fruit sticks and a cold towel when lounging by the pool in the afternoons. The room was clean and comfortable, with 2 housekeeping visits a day which includes a turn down service in the evenings. The location is great, close to the beach and town. Please ignore any previous reviews about the noisy nightclub opposite as it has now moved to a different location (about a 10 minute walk away) and you can’t hear it from the bungalows. We would highly recommend this beautiful accommodation and hope we can return in the future.

Verified reviewMITI is a little gem in Nungwi. The layout of the bungalows is really nice, with a lovely breakfast on the terrace every morning. It felt very cozy and we felt very much at home here. The best part is the staff, they are all incredibly sweet and helpful. They have a limited but good lunch/dinner menu that we enjoyed almost every day whilst staying there.
It is not on the beach, so you need to either walk down to the nearest beach (5 min.) or take a short taxi ride. We preferred to go to Kendwa beach (you can rent beach chairs at Kendwa Rocks).

Verified reviewThe staff was the most educated and nice that we had the whole trip around Zanzibar, and we stayed in 4 different places. They all are excellent professionals from the manager to the people that cut the grass. We want to leave a special mention to our favourite person IN THE WHOLE AFRICA, Jackson, (rest of the guys you are amazing too), but he has one of the most beautiful souls we ever met. Verified reviewThe staff is kind and respectful, and the room was clean. Someone came in every day to make the bed, which is nice, though it felt a bit much that they entered the room twice a day — once in the morning to tidy up, and again in the evening to draw the curtains and prepare the bed for sleep. The pool is a great bonus, perfect for cooling off during the day or in the evening. The cocktails are tasty and reasonably priced. The food at the restaurant is good and also fairly priced, but there aren’t many local dishes on the menu. the property has a generator — a big plus, especially since power outages are fairly common in the area. During our stay, we didn’t experience any issues with electricity or water. Also good to know: the restaurant accepts payment by card, US dollars, or the local currency.
A big downside for me was the breakfast: you have to make your own coffee using instant coffee and hot water, which feels underwhelming. The fruit selection was limited, despite being in a tropical fruit paradise. There are only three breakfast options to choose from, and you're not allowed to combine them, which felt too restrictive. One small inconvenience: the villa is located in a busier area, so it can get a bit noisy in the evenings. Lastly, there’s a local city tax that we weren't informed about beforehand.

For clarity, our breakfast includes milk, juice, a plate of seasonal fruits, homemade toasted bread with butter and jam, and your choice of either eggs (served with hash browns, baked beans, grilled tomato, onion, and sausage), a vegetable chapati wrap, or pancakes which is available in different varieties such as with Nutella, banana, mixed fruits, or homemade jam. Verified reviewOur stay at MITI Beach was amazing. The rooms were so clean and had everything we needed. We appreciated that the room was sprayed each evening for bugs and the large mosquito net over the bed put down too. The breakfast in the morning was delicious - 10/10! Best we’ve had in Zanzibar and we loved the fresh, homemade bread, juices and all round incredible food! But most of all, every single person working there was so kind, friendly and welcoming. We felt at home and were sad to leave! Shout out to Hakim, Justin and Luis!
