To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

BoliviaBreakfast was miserable, it says in the web and here in Booking.com “enjoy our continental breakfast” and when we went for it, it was a tiny room stuffed with people with looong uncomfortable lines to reach orange juice bought from the supermarket and some nasty muffins. There was no coffee, no fresh eggs (boiled eggs tasted terrible), they put small packed cereal and packed oatmeal. Totally disappointed. Wish the parking would be easier and cheaper if you’re staying at the facility, but it’s what it is.

Excellent location, very friendly and proficient house cleaning staff, very friendly staff overall! Very nice room. Very nice grab and go breakfast buffet set up outside the breakfast room.

United States of AmericaThe valet parking was inadequate at checkin. We had to circle the block MANY times to get one of the few spots in front of the hotel and the valet was only taking cars from those spots every 15-20 minutes. It was inferior to other hotels I’ve stayed in Chicago and Detroit when there were valets ready to swoop in as soon as a car pulled up, especially at the prime checkin time window.
The rooms were nice, the breakfast was great, the staff were friendly and helpful!

Breakfast was great and we appreciated the early breakfast on the day of the Chicago Marathon. We weren’t expecting it but it was a lovely surprise.

The breakfast room was one of the saddest spaces I've seen - no window, no beauty, paper plates, like a poor college cafeteria. I wouldn't go there after my first morning.

United States of AmericaSeemed like breakfast and happy hour has been downgraded as far as quality of food and drinks. Still a good variety for breakfast but the happy hour only had popcorn and pretzels (the ad on TV said variety of appetizers from local establishments and beer, wine and cocktails). There was only beer and dry wine, no cocktails or even soda. The lounge is too small to accommodate all the guests, no place to sit.
Nice staff, great location. Felt security was good. Lots of restaurants and entertainment close.

United States of AmericaWhile my reservation through booking.com was for a double room including breakfast (at a higher rate than just a double room), I was surprised to learn at check in that I would have to pay an "activity fee" which would include a "complimentary" breakfast and happy hour. Your listings should include the activity fee will be collected at check in and there should NOT be a separate listing for the room plus continental breakfast if it is also part of the activity fee. I ended up paying twice - not worth it!
