To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

NetherlandsThe hotel and the room were quite dated and needed maintenance. The facade was covered in scaffolding. The cleaning was not superb - the carpet in our room was dirty upon our arrival, and the room was not vacuumed once during our stay. We stayed 9 nights and although we got fresh towels every day, the bed sheets were not changed once.
The location is great, especially for a first time visit to NY. Lots of iconic sights are reachablr within short walking distance and the rest are easily accessible via metro. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room matched the pictures. Although there is no restaurant on site, coffee and tea were provided every morning. And there are lots of good breakfast places nearby. Overall, a nice place to stay at for a first-time NY traveler.

United KingdomYou have to go to the lobby in the morning to get a coffee as you can’t make one in your room. Would be nice to have a coffee throughout the day and not just in the morning. We also had a very small and unusable wardrobe in our room.

ItalySo, basically the problem (that we didn't mention to the staff because it wasn't a real problem) was that the windows were full of drafts and, at the beginning, we were very worried about the cold and the noise coming from there. However, the curtains were extremely heavy and insulating, plus the heating system was perfect, so we never felt cold. The noise didn't really bother us because we were so tired that we instantly fell asleep as soon as we touched the bed!
The Hotel is located in a perfect position, very convenient for the subway, you can reach pretty much every single line from there. The room was clean and the staff very nice and helpful. The bed was really cozy.
