Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesWe took the train up from the city, and getting to/from Beacon required Uber/Lyft rides which wasn't a deal breaker, but would be even better if we had a car.
My partner and I had a lovely time staying here. We were looking for some place peaceful and charming, and this is absolutely it. Jim delights in his hosting role and was wonderful to chat with. Highly recommend for anyone looking to get away.

United StatesPerfect for a little weekend getaway out of the city. Very charming home and space, and the gardens were beautiful. Jim and Joe were both absolutely lovely and the breakfast was great. We took Lyfts/ Uber to both Beacon and Cold Springs and had no difficulties getting around without a car. Jim was kind enough to drop us off at the train station on our way back home. There was also an easy and scenic trail within walking distance to the home.

United StatesBreakfast was good, coffee machine, danishes and fruit. Would of been nice to have some eggs or meat but not important just a recommendation for host here.
The house was warm and inviting, great srt pieces all around, lovely host. Great trails in the garden and relaxing meditative spots along the trails. 5 minutes from town yet secluded in the woods. I mean the waterfall is right there on the property and has trails with statues and gardens what more can i say wonderful stay especially for price.

United StatesIf the owner hadn't given us a lift into town, we would have had to take a taxi--we're New Yorkers and love to walk, but not without sidewalks. But the fact that it was in the countryside made it more charming--and we got that lift. So all was well.
The owner was very friendly and helpful and fun to talk to. He actually gave us a lift into town as we were leaving. The artwork was marvelous, the garden magical and the bed comfortable.

United StatesThe weather could have been better but we made the most of it. Next time, we plan to make reservations to Manitoga and swim in the watering hole longer.
The drive there was only 1 1/2 hours from Staten Island. The Beacon Hermitage is a beautiful home reminiscent of The Hermitage perfectly nestled between beautiful Cold Spring and charming Beacon. We were immediately greeted by Jim and Joe who are very kind, courteous, and respectful of their home. It was close to feeling like being with family. The outdoor garden and indoor paintings were so evident of their amazing talent and taste in art. Along the property is an amazing walk along a river leading to a gorgeous watering hole that you can feel free to be one with nature. It’s a great opportunity for an invigorating plunge! When you’re ready to venture out, you can enjoy the wonderful food and walk along Main Street in Beacon as well as Cold Spring. I recommend hiking in Cold Spring and visiting Manitoga which was unfortunately closed at the time. Sleeping and relaxing at The Beacon Hermitage was comfortable and peaceful. Waking up was even more of a delight. Breakfast was fresh delicious coffee and homemade pastries along with plenty of fruit. All in all, I highly recommend staying here and wish the best for Jim and Joe ❤️

United StatesNo complaints,
As a continental breakfast everything was fresh and enjoyable. The facilities location was easy to find, and although they are located close to the main route 9 the evening traffic did not inhibit our sleep.

The place is perfectly located, not too far from the town and in the middle of the hiking trail. The host was delightful, he offered us some figs from their three, made sure we had everything we needed. In the morning, they bake some delicious pastries and he gave us directions for hikes. He even drove us to the town a couple of times. Great exoerience

We loved everything about this adorable bed and breakfast! To start, the homemade pastries baked daily by the owners were French bakery worthy! All the beautiful art adorning the common areas were so lovely to study. My favorite part of the Hermitage was the gorgeous terraced garden that had all these cute little seating areas nestled in the trees and flower beds.

United StatesIt was an absolute pleasure to stay at Beacon Hermitage. Even before arriving, Jim and Joe were extremely thoughtful, considerate and welcoming, making our check-in and stay easy and comfortable after a long day of traveling. They are very attentive and gracious hosts, anticipating our needs and respecting our privacy. The breakfast was excellent each morning of our stay, and the residence and surrounding grounds were beautiful, peaceful, and exciting to explore. We came to Beacon without a strong idea of what to do, and Jim made excellent suggestions. They have lived in the area for a long time and know it very well. Our room was comfortable, and the entire home was very clean and well-decorated! We’ll be back!

United StatesIf there was something not to like here, then I missed it amidst all the things to love.
The grounds of the property were a pleasure to explore. Behind the house there’s a hill that overlooks the property where they’ve cut several little paths up, with multiple little sitting areas and nooks. The house itself is very cozy with a lovely dining room and sitting area. The rooms are very spacious, ours having a large walk-in closet. Two IMMACULATE bathrooms upstairs and downstairs, both equipped with a shower, so even though they are shared with other guests, it never felt like it. Great location, just minutes from downtown Beacon. Additionally, there’s a path from the property into the woods that leads to a small waterfall with a pool you’re able to swim in. Gorgeous!
