Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaSomeone who stayed there stole a bottle of my wine that I had in the communal refrigerator which wasn't the Inn's fault. Some people are just jerks:)
Crystal cooked breakfast for me every day and was very accommodating and flexible! The choices were great and I never left hungry!

United States of AmericaIn keeping with the age of the buildings there are lamps and not over head lights, the rooms are dark which is only a problem when looking through a suitcase, we could have used a few scones or more lamps. Our king bed was two twins that kept separating, it was comfortable, but needed one of those belts to tie it together.
Always a warm welcome at the Newport Inns on Clark St. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Good location for our needs, off street parking and good value. Best thing to do is call the Inn directly and ask for the room you want, booking.com makes it confusing as to what you are getting. The inn keeper works hard to make sure guests are accommodated, so just call him directly.

United States of AmericaThe room was fine but I would have liked a stand for luggage rather than just putting it on the floor. Also the hot water faucet was very hard to turn on.
Breakfast was very good. Staff was friendly. We were happy to have off street/free parking and be able to walk most places.

United States of AmericaThere was nothing to not like! Be aware, the houses are old, but are up to date. They all have steeper staircases and a creak here or there in the floor, but tjats part of the charm.
Rick and his staff are phenomenal! Everyone was very kind and welcoming and willing to do whatever was necessary to make our stay better. We had breakfast both mornings we were there and it was very good. The portions weren't huge but were just right (and the coffee was very good too).

United States of AmericaThe staff was super friendly and helpful. When we checked in, we asked the desk manager for recommendations in Newport for the next day. We followed her advice to a T and had a REALLY lovely day. Another highlight was the included breakfast. The coffee was the best we had the whole trip and the prepared breakfast was really delicious. It was so nice to have an included breakfast that was freshly made to order. The location was extremely convenient and walkable to everything in historic downtown Newport and the harbor. It was also really neat to stay in a building built in 1705! The room had all modern conveniences expected! I will recommend the Clarkeston Inn to friends/family visiting Newport in the future!

United States of AmericaI understand that noise proofing rooms in historical buildings is not easy due to ordinances. but the rooms that are down stairs experience a lot of noise from the outside windows.
The staff where very friendly and helpful. Parking situation was well explained. The building is historical which adds a level of authenticity. the rooms are renovated to some extent to not remove the history of the place.
