Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesWe loved the location, the modern cabin, and the onsite restaurants. This property is home to a top rated bistro that did not disappoint. The cafe and coffee shop provided other options for meals.

United KingdomBreakfast was very average - no healthy eating choices, which would have been a bonus.
Great location for us - quiet and relaxed. Cabins were comfortable and loved sitting out on the balcony with nothing but trees surrounding us. Restaurant was superb - we ate there a couple of times and by far the best option in the area.

United StatesThe lighting within the cabin could use some adjusting considering the sleeping and living area are all in one room. Also the porch needed a bit of attention by cleaning staff.. there was a cigarette butt still sitting on the porch railing and spider webs needed to be swept.
The views and location are beautiful. The cabin was cozy and inviting. The staff was very accommodating and helped us celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary! The food at the onsite Bistro is literally award winning!

United StatesThe only thing that was problematic, because of my allergies, was the cleaning products used had a strong floral scent. However, that's just a personal issue I deal with in most places.
Staying at the D.B. Lodge was a wonderful and refreshing experience. My husband and I are often disappointed with our stays (on-line pictures don't compare to reality) but not with Dancing Bear it exceeded our expectations. The staff seemed to be anticipating our arrival like important guest. When we got into our modern style cabin, we were so excited, clean, comfortable and well equipped. There were 2 lovely bathrobes for when you got out of the jacuzzi or shower. The cabin was set in a quiet serene area. Breakfast at the Dancing Bean coffee house was fantastic too! I can't wait to visit again.

United StatesWould be good if cafe could open earlier than 9 AM.
The cabin locations were perfect - in the woods and away from the road and other services. Breakfast was available from nearby cafe and/or coffee shop. Selections were limited, but sufficient. We were able to pick up breakfast items the night before for an early morning departure. We really liked the Dancing Bear Bistro. The menu selections were interesting and the food was excceptional. Our server for both nights was Zoe and she was excellent.

United StatesThe location is fantastic! Tucked away to enjoy the peace and quiet, but close enough to all the action. The accommodations are almost anything you could ask for! We received a welcome basket with waters and snacks for a hiking trip. The bathroom was clean and updated. The bed was extremely cozy and comfortable. We were given breakfast cards for each morning's stay, and we had a choice of where to go. They have free bike rentals, and we took advantage of that and rode bikes along the amazing trail. Would highly recommend!!

United StatesI was glad we arrived in the daylight as after dark it's a bit harder to see with the low light levels around the units. All of Townsend was harder for us to get around after dark. The roads are not well-lit and the markings on the roads are very poor.
Very friendly staff and quiet location in a woodsy setting. Made to order breakfast was available in two locations and were very filling with good coffee. Only drawback was the 8AM start for the breakfast. Our room was one of the shared wall duplex units but for the most part people were very quiet. Rooms were large and well equipped. We had plenty of towels and housekeeping and supplies were available on request. A nice welcome basket was left for our arrival. There is a general store along with the restaurants and I recommend giving their fried apple pie a try. Great location for getting to Cades Cove.

United StatesCame for a day's bike ride around Cade's Cove on automobile free Wednesday, and it was wonderful. Our cabin had full kitchen facilities so we had dinner in each evening. The breakfasts at the Dancing Bean cafe (coffee's, muffins, bacon-egg-cheese sandwiches) were filling and complementary. The lodge is literally minutes away from the Great Smoky Mountains NP. Townsend TN is a far cry from Gatlinburg, the other gateway to the Smokies which I found to be too crowded. I can't wait to return to Townsend and the Dancing Bear Lodge. BTW, on our first night we crossed paths with a black bear as he ambled (not danced) across the road we were using to head back to our cabin. On our Cade's Cove bike trip we encountered 6 more black bears! Amazing! Loved this place....
