Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

This hostel could be a lot more well maintained. One of the other guests I met who stays there often said, "It has really been going downhill lately." Shared bathroom was a mess with a partially functioning shower head and waiting for a very long time on hot water. The lock/latch to my shared room was broken and the hot water kettle in the shared kitchen didn't work. It seems some of the other guests have been hard on this place, but the owners and staff also seem to do little to maintain it and make repairs.
You can't beat the price, but you get what you pay for. The staff at the front desk was a little difficult to deal with at first, but he loosened up and smiled later. I think he must deal with a lot of other difficult customers.

Bedroom and bathroom door were very difficult to open and close. You basically had to end up slamming them which makes an awful racket. Not good when folks sre trying to sleep!

No microwave?? Which is the cheapest thing to buy!. Dc Ac doesn’t work! Had to sleep in what feels like 90 degrees . No hot water coming from the shower! There is a beeping noise that never stops or ever fixed!

Staff were very slow in check in. They took refundable 1$ for the key card but there is no one after 9 pm or before 8 am. I had to leave the premises without taking 1$ as there was no one to refund. (NOT ABOUT MONEY BUT SERVICE IS CONCERN HERE) There are no, absolutely no, cutlery in kitchen to use.Only 1-2 plates..thats it with no spoon and fork..so be prepare for that.. There is oven and fridge to keep your things..Washroom is very small though and not that clean.
It was close to metro on the green line (Mt Vernom and Shaw Howard) - 10 min Bed was comfy The only good thing is the budget which is approximately 35$ near metro. Cheapest place to stay..The next best is you will get around 60$.

someone who was working the night we stayed was on the phone between 1am and 3:30am on the bathroom right next to our room and was speaking so loudly I thought he was in my room finally after getting fed up with the total lack of respect I went out and told him he was too loud talking all he did was get off the toilet lid and went downstairs didn't bother to apologize or anything. I won't go there again

The towel I received was dirty, there was no key card so couldn't lock/ open the door. No soap in the bathroom

The facilities are old, overcrowded, and the top bed bunks are not even safe. It's difficult to understand why the basic step of installing a barrier to prevent a person from falling off the bed cannot be taken.
The great redeeming feature was the receptionist Kas. Her hospitality and unique way of making people feel at home were the greatest redeeming quality of the hostel.

The false advertisement about the stove and people eat your food.
I didn't get breakfast. The location was the best thing about the whole experience.

Replace with firm mattress, have some privacy for each bed (curtain), add a small lamp for each bed. Have a locker space for each bed.
The mattress is too soft, blanket is too old. No locking space for luggage. The doors are too old and sometimes hard to open.

The place is falling apart. It’s old and not clean. Beds are not good quality, the bathrooms are dirty, 1st floor bathroom sink has no water and the water in the shower is barely warm. You get what you pay for… But I wish they keep the place in good conditions.
