To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. United States of AmericaCheck-in was complicated. I booked through Booking.com and was told this was a 3rd party (like it was the plague) so your hotel wouldn't honor the "breakfast included". 'Paula' was very abrupt about this, telling me I should show the restaurant my confirmation paper. When I showed up at the restaurant, the continental breakfast was included. We got charged for everything anyway. The breakfast people said we should take it up with registration. What a debacle. I was at a conference. Otherwise, I wouldn't choose this hotel.

United States of AmericaI was surprised there wasn't a fridge in the room. It seemed an unnecessary corner to cut. I tried to place s "for pickup" order on the room service line, left a message, never heard back and had to go down to the restaurant for them to tell me the ordering line was down. Knowing this on check-in or as a notice in my room would have saved me an hour trying to arrange dinner.
I've stayed at this particular Doubletree hotel many times over the years. It's convenient to my business needs in/around San Jose and Santa Clara and generally a "known quantity"

United States of AmericaThere are not enough outlets for plugging in phones, iPads, and watches. The room, especially the bathroom, are worn looking. Just a personal pet peeve but I hate toilets (like those at DoubleTree) that flush from the top of the tank especially when the toilet seat cover obstructs the flush button.
The beds are comfortable and the room relatively quiet. I appreciate there are places to dine especially after a long car drive.

United States of AmericaI had to pay $75 for my dog. She was in the room a total of 5 hours and sleeps the whole time. I usually lay a blanket on bed so her fur doesn't get on it. For $75 I let her roll and burrow in the sheets and pillows. Also it said a city view but I'm not sure that's what I got.
