Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We’re currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil, and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel in Manhattan, near Madison Square Park. It was really easy to walk or catch the subway to the sights around New York. Our room for 3 was perfect for me and my two kids, compact but very well laid out and modern in design. Cool views, and the room stayed nice and cool in the hot summer weather.

My only complaint is that the pillows were really flat.
The decor & ambiance was gorgeous, staff was friendly. The value for your money was excellent. Conveniently located. The toiletries were good quality and they provided bath robes. The room had a steamer instead of an iron, which was much more convenient to use.

The rooms are very small, little storage space, and no windows / air - bathroom got very hot and wasn’t anyway to clear it.
Location was fantastic, bar and food options also great.

The rooms didn’t have enough mirrors or sockets and no drawers! Somewhere to put smaller items of clothes would have been nice.

This is New York. Everything is expensive But considering the cost of the other close by hotels, and their facilities, this is a great place.
A fun hotel with a fun bar with young people and music...my wife and I are not young and the youthfulness of the place is refreshing. Fun staff, decent food, located in the 20s in Manhattan which is ideal for us.

A lot of student groups staying at the hotel while we were there and they aren't the most well mannered when waiting for elevators, but that isn't hotels fault.

Definitely location was amazing. Few blocks away from Flat iron and Empire State Building. Amazing coffee at the ground floor level coffee shop. Close to the subway and safe at night. Highly recommend at this price.

We stayed in triple and double rooms. The bathrooms were both tiny and not well lit. We woke up with allergies after sleeping in the double room.
Stood there while moving my son into his dorm. The location was excellent for our needs, convenient and close to Union Square. The decor and ambiance is nice. Loved the bunkbed in the triple room. The bellhops were very helpful.

The general lighting in the hotel & rooms are too dim.
Perfect boutique hotel for a few nights stay. Ideal location - close enough to most places in Manhattan. Has all the essentials and staff are very friendly.

Our room was close to the closet used by the cleaning staff, so there was a lot of loud door slamming before 8 AM. Also, there are 3 elevators to serve the entire building and one of them was out of order for an oddly long time (over 48 hours) which overloaded the other 2.
Location is great, staff was quite nice- especially the cleaning people were super pleasant. Bathroom was very nice and new. I liked the style and taste. Very helpful reception staff too.
