Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThere’s no on-site restaurant, and valet parking is on the pricier side—pretty typical for downtown hotels. It would’ve been nice if they offered a continental breakfast, though.
Gaslamp Plaza Suites is right in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter, so you're literally steps away from all the bars, restaurants, and nightlife. Being in the middle of the city does come with a bit of the usual city stuff—some noise, a little grunge—but the location is super convenient if you're looking to explore downtown. The hotel felt really safe, which I appreciated. There’s valet parking right out front, and the lobby doors lock at night—you use your room key to get in and to access the elevator, which was a nice security touch. The front desk staff was great—super friendly and helpful. I mentioned my room felt a little small, and they didn’t hesitate to upgrade me to a Junior Suite. It was awesome! Really spacious, with a comfy queen bed, a full living room, and even a kitchenette. The living room had a sofa that pulled out into a bed, which would be perfect for kids or extra guests. The kitchenette had a microwave, fridge, sink, and everything you’d need—plates, glasses, utensils, wine opener, sponge, dish soap, even a drying mat. Great setup if you're traveling with family or just want to save your leftovers. The bathroom had a big oval tub and those wall dispensers with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, plus hand soap and lotion by the sink. There was also a small dining table, chairs, and a desk, which made the room feel super livable. They also held our bags after checkout so we could wander around a bit longer without dragging our stuff around. Really appreciated that. Overall, the hotel was clean, had a unique vintage feel that made it stand out, and still offered all the modern essentials like a hair dryer and ironing board. You could stay somewhere more basic, but this place actually feels like a vacation. Highly recommend if you want something comfortable, memorable, and close to everything. TIP: Use the Hop On Hop Off Trolley to explore many of the local attractions.

United StatesWe requested an extra blanket, and received a blanket that smelled terrible. We returned it and asked for one that was not smelly. We never received the second blanket. For a 5-day, $3,500 stay I would expect an extra blanket that has no smell. I don't think I can recommend this place to others or return. We were there for ComicCon and felt that apart from one lay at the front desk the other front desk peeled had disdain for us. There was no smiles or customer appreciation. Again, for that piece tag I expected more, and can't recommend to others, because the blanket could be a one off, but the staffing is not.
Nice architecture.

United StatesThe shower pressure was pretty bad, and there weren't many outlets near the bed for chargers. The hotel is old and rooms show their age.
The staff were fantastic. Merry on the reception desk definitely lives up to her name, and was extremely helpful both with information about the local area and transportation, and for kindly upgrading my room to a beautiful corner suite. The room was great, clean and comfy and the location is walking distance to restaurants, ferries, bars and shops. The rooftop view from the hotel is worth checking out on the top floor.

United StatesIt would have been nice if the top floor had a bar or a small café where we could buy food such as breakfast. The hotel price does not include breakfast.
The room was comfortable, and they had a big size

GermanyThis is sadly a topic with many hotels in the USA: very outdated and tired facilities, appliances from the early 2000s everywhere and pretty beaten up, walls and carpets very tired looking, bathrooms not up to current standard, general facilities also super outdated. Then the price per night is not that much lower than a big chain hotel and also not lots of amenities offered. Might as well pay a little more and stay at a more known chain hotel that has been recently renovated or newly build. Not really great value for money at the end.
Location is very good cause it is right in the action in the gaslamp district (at the same time not so good since you hear the music from the clubs nearby and people partying since the bars and clubs have big outdoor areas and the city does not regulate noice levels sadly as they should) … location is very good tho also because it is very close to the conference center and Harbour. The place was very clean too. Staff super friendly.

PolandIf you're looking for more modern design, it might not be for you — for example, the bathrooms lacked showers, and the windows couldn’t be opened.
It’s a nice place, converted from a 100-year-old office building and retaining many original features. Nicely located next to 5th Avenue and the convention center. I had a great time.

United StatesI wish they had room service! But it's okay, because a lot of the restaurants in the area deliver.
Everyone at the front desk was so friendly! I was in town for a convention and I wanted a quiet hotel away from the hubbub. It was just close enough for a 15 minute walk to the convention center, but far enough away for some respite. Felt very old-timey and that part was really cool!
