Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe room had a few details that needed attention but were not enough to bring to the attention of the innkeeper. The sink plug did not work (the ring was broken) - so had to use a knife to help the water go down. The curtain in the bathroom was tattered and needed a bit of sewing. The patio could have used a sweep (though it was cold & we did not sit out there). Otherwise, it was above exceptional!
Loved the availability to see the unoccupied rooms, the tea time & the breakfast was delicious!

United StatesI had hoped there would have been more photographs from Days gone by accompanied by explanations. It seems like it may have been decorated in the 80's-90's and frozen in time, I would love to see some real period art sprinkled in. Being an estate liquidator you can purchase authentic pieces from that time period at estate sales or auction for under value.
I loved the historical story behind the property and the design of the building.

United StatesOlivia and her staff were so helpful and genuinely friendly. Really enjoyed meeting the other staffers,Persia and Sayler. she showed use around the house, before settling in and going out to dinner. She suggested a wonderful place to eat.We had 4 bikes with us, and she showed us a location on the property where we could store the bike for the night. The breakfast the next morning was freshly made from scratch. My girlfriend is a Vegetarian so she offered to make her fresh eggs for the protein, instead of the bacon I got. Cannot say enough great things about our completely inpromptu stop on our way to Oregon for Thanksgiving!! THANK YOU!!

United StatesHad to lug our luggage up two flights of stairs to the 3rd floor.
It was very heavy - sausage biscuits and gravy. Would have preferred something else.

LuxembourgThere was really nothing to complain about the place. Certainly worth a little detour we took en route from Oregon to San Francisco.
The care and love that went into restoring and maintaining the place are evident and it really creates an unforgettable atmosphere. Our room was like a luxury accommodation from one of Charles Dickens's novels. Even the breakfast is served thinking how it could be done in a Victorian era. Overall, it was an amazing experience.

CanadaThis is an absolutely amazing place! It has 11 bedrooms which are all lovingly decorated in period style with beautiful old furniture. The downstairs is spacious with several lovely rooms for guests to enjoy. Every room has fresh flowers and period decor. The afternoon tea and wine were an added bonus and the breakfast was delicious. In addition, the town of Ferndale is a gem. Don’t miss this place!

United StatesIt is hard to be critical of anything, but we stayed in the fountain room with side-by-side bathtubs. It would have been nice to have a fan of some kind available after the hot bath.
Breakfast was delicious. The staff couldn't have been nicer. The house was spectacular and spotless. Everything was very nice.

We didn't really know much about this hotel when we booked but boy we do now. The ladies that ran it were amazing from the breakfasts to the afternoon tea which was fabulous and such a treat (home baked treats were delicious) The Gingerbread Mansion was like going back in time as every room was different from the wallpaper and the carpets and decor unbelievable really. You could go and have a look in other bedrooms that were vacant which was a joy seeing the beds so high as I remember as a child getting into my nans bed and having to jump up brought back lovely memories. Ferndale is a lovely town just 3 minutes walk and you are on the main street where the shops and restaurants are. Its also an easy reach to get to see the Costal Redwoods.

It was beyond all expectations. The staff was delightful. Our room was luxurious and we had several areas that we could sit and enjoy games or just talk. Appetizers and cookies and wine and tea were a nice afternoon treat. A specially cooked breakfast was delicious and we were even allowed to looked at the other sumptuous bedrooms that were not in use. This is a treat!

United StatesThe only negative, which could be easily remedied, was we both took cold showers! The water was warm for a minute and then remained cold. I would guess they had no idea the water heater needed to be adjusted! We did not see the innkeeper to relay that message.
The innkeeper at the Gingerbread Mansion was very welcoming and the property was beautiful and clean as could be. The evening reception was exceptional, wine, appetizers and the best homemade cookies. Breakfast was top notch.
