To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The location is brilliant, right by the bars and restaurants, but was told to be aware of noise. I had a room that literally looked out onto the Raleigh Beer Garden and it was fine, no need for ear plugs or anything.

United States of AmericaLighting was too direct and harsh. Diffuse lighting, as in lamps that reflect light off the ceiling, would be much better. Also, a firmer pillow, more appropriat to a "side-sleeper" would have been a nice option.
I suspect the noise from local party events would have been a bit much if we had stayed over a weekend, but the noise we were warned about was not an issue.

United States of AmericaThink they are in process of upgrading rooms, our room was starting to show wear and for the money should be kept in 'better' 'newer' condition. They are not kidding about the noise at night.... its real.
All the staff were super friendly. Overall clean hotel and location was why we picked it. Great breakfast and again super staff. It is a noisy hotel at night (the downtown nightlife) I knew this before going, but if you need quiet for sleeping-hahaha your not going to get it.
