We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.

Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United StatesThis is a complaint about Newark Airport, but also a little about the hotel's lack of communication: the airport shuttle does NOT drop you off at the terminal, but instead at the "air train" station, so you still have to lug everything (kids included) to the actual terminal. I assume this is some back-alley deal with the cabs so that people will choose to spend the money on a cab to get dropped off at the terminal instead of using the free (and mass-ish transit) shuttle options included in the hotel rates. Anyway, this was never communicated to us during the booking process and truth be told, I probably would not have booked the hotel had this been made clear.
The hotel was fine - it's an airport hotel so it meets all expectations by being in close proximity to the airport and it was clean, comfortable, and expectedly equipped (ie, fridge, coffee, TV). The beds were comfortable and the rooms were large (we stayed in King + Sofa Bed combo). The staff were absolutely incredible - I hope Holiday Inn treats their people well, becuase all over the world the Holiday Inn (usually Express) staff go above and beyond.

United StatesThe shuttle does NOT take you to the airport terminal, it takes you to the airtrain entrance. This is NOT clearly evident on the hotel website or the during the booking process. This inconvenience itself is not the hotel's fault (it appears to be a policy of the airport), but it is absolutely outside of the norm for every other airport shuttle service I have experienced and to be quite honest, I would *not* have stayed here had I known this was the case. While it is not a horrible situation or process, it is just inconvenient enough (and NOT something I planned around because this was NOT communicated to me at all until I got on the actual shuttle itself) to push the equation into the "not worth it" side of the scales for me and my purpose in staying at that hotel that night. Again, while the actual sitation is NOT Holiday Inn's fault, the fact that I was never told or warned that this was the situation prior to booking (or even getting on the shuttle) *is* Holiday Inn's fault, and that sort of gray-level dishonesty (lies of omission) leaves a bad taste in my mouth for the entire experience.
The hotel itself was great: the staff was friendly and efficient, the rooms were large and comfortable, everything was clean and completely functional.
