Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomMy room was very small and dated and had a slight odour. I was exhausted from a 5hr drive so sprayed perfume rather than moving rooms. I needed sleep. It's an old style, rabbit warren of a hotel. I am not suggesting for a second that it's not safe but I was very relieved to have a room with a fire escape stairwell right next to it. I took wrong turns going to the lift every time, so knowing I only had to step left in an emergency was good. (I caveat this was probably not helped by being reminded on all the tours, that Towering Inferno was filmed nearby - and that film traumatised me as a child!!) I did feel the Westin was only marginally more expensive on the nights I booked and would actually have been better value in hindsight. So depends if you prioritise absolute prices or value per dollar spent. It's worth bearing in mind, it's in the part of the city where you see the homeless. I never felt unsafe - they are just people who life has let down after all. But you should be ready for it. Also the dept stores all closed on Easter Sunday which caught a lot of us visitors out. Absolutely not the hotel's fault and not a big problem but again something to consider when planning your stay.
Location is good if you want to be in the shopping district. Some gorgeous buildings in the vicinity, if you like that kind of thing - I do. Danny the concierge is a hero and couldn't have been more helpful. It was about a 30 min walk to the Ferry Terminal for context. There is public transport but the weather was nice.

SpainFacilities a bit old, it would be great to improve some of the elements of the room and the bath. Carpet on the floor of the room.
Big room, quite comfortable. Nice location close to different interesting locations in San Francisco. Reception 24 hours, staff nice and helpful with different requests we had.

United KingdomIt was a little more expensive than I would normally choose, and the room upgrade (perhaps due to construction work) was nice though meant I had a huge room as a solo traveler, spending most of my time exploring. Parking was expensive, so I returned our rental and used public transit to get around. No catering, but a discount for the local diner.
The location was great, the room was clean, functional and comfortable. I didn't use the pool, but my friends (with kids) enjoyed it. Very convenient for using public transportation. Discount for local diner due to ongoing construction work.

United KingdomUnion square area is popular with San Francisco’s homeless and we found lack of causal evening restaurants in this area. The hotel would benefit from an open bar / restaurant facility.
We got upgraded to the “new building” pool side room. Huge room, and well presented and clean. Hotel provides voucher for staying customers for 20% off breakfast and lunch at Masons cafe which is just around the corner!

New ZealandI was disappointed that you only got 2 sachets of tea and coffee and had to use powdered creamer, milk would have been better and 2 sachets goes very quickly.
The central location and the ability to book an extra room that was connecting to the original room I booked. I loved that it had a balcony where I could sit and have a coffee while watching the hustle and bustle of the city. I appreciate the toweling robes and the body lotion in the bathroom. It was easy to get in and out of the shower as the bath wasn't too high and there were grab rails for safety
