Hot room. Difficult to control temperature

Perfect size for 3 singles traveling together. Everyone had their own bed.

The hotel is quite old and is in need of much renovations. I was told that this is in process of being done. The room was smaller than expected but accommodating for two people during a short day.

The room was clean and the beds were somewhat comfortable and the location was ideal for traveling to and from the sites in Washington. It was convenient to where we could get the tour buses. We were able to pay for parking in a lot a few blocks walking distance to the hotel. There was a restaurant on the premises in which you could have breakfast, lunch and dinner at reasonable prices.

the oil heaters clanged loudly from midnight on. About every 40 mins it sounded as though someone was belting them with a hammer. Broken sleep for all the family both nights. The hot water in the shower took ages to come through. An enormous waste of water. It was a good pressured shower when it did finally heat up. Renovations appear to be happening so if the old systems are updated it would be an excellent place to stay.

great location, lovely walks to the main tourist spots and good shopping and restaurants close by - very easy to walk everywhere but also reliable bus and metro stops nearby, Good size rooms that were adjoining for our family- It was great to have 2 bathrooms, a table and 4 chairs and mini fridge. Comfortable beds. Loved the American President time-line in the lobby with all the chronological facts on events and inventions of each period.

It was about to close (for refurbishment?) which had been planned for 18 months I believe. Hence there were no restaurants on site; contrary to the advertising. They even had all their outside lights on - maybe the City Council had bribed them to avoid giving the locality a 'down at heel' look? We wondered about approaching Booking.com for a partial refund ...... (Given the restaurant prices, maybe we wouldn't eaten there anyway) Perhaps the staff could have pointed us to a local convenience store/CVS Pharmacy; in the event we had to take an Uber taxi to one some blocks away which presented itself on Google. Moral - always take starter survival rations to an unknown hotel ...... Summary a brilliant 100-year old hotel which has seen better days, which maybe will again

It was clean, the facilites all worked, and it had a 24-hour front desk. It's also in an excellent location for downtown Washington and the Smithsonian museums. The skeleton staff were friendly and helpful and the bed comfy. The room had a microwave and a fridge, which made our stay comfortable and cheaper.

It was crazy hot in our room. We didn’t even turn on the heat it was already super hot. We slept with no blankets and wished we brought a fan or something to cool the room.

The location is super for the hotel and the staff was very friendly.Overnight parking was only $20 but you have to park it yourself very close by.

Great location easy access to museums and other attraction the hotel restaurants and bar were great very quirky. the location was also great as there were many restaurants in close proximity we would certainly stay again

Charming old fashioned hotel in a perfect location between the White House and the Congress close to the National Mall. Close to subway station and some shops. The breakfast buffet was good value.

Outdated, very noisy air conditioning. The room was not cleaned - never happened to us before. But quickly replaced with another one. Friendly staff.

The hotel is somewhat old. The carpets are all discolored and the walls looks like they need some painting. Everything was clean but looked like it hasn't seen some quality maintenance is some time.

The room is not that clean. One morning, I woke up at 5am by the sound of the pipe(I’m not sure) it does sound like motorbike. I thought to myself that I was haunted.

Corredor cleanness

The location could not be better, between the most important places in Washington. The room was clean and comfortable to spend the night. The corridors had terribly dirty carpets. The personnel was gentle.

Even up on the 8th floor the street noise was a problem at night, or more precisely, very early in the morning. I guess it's just a busy street.

While it was old, not remodeled, that was expected. It was a good value in a very convenient location.

Rooms are looking a little run down. We've stayed here several times over the years, but are hesitant to ask friends and family to join us if we think their hotel expectations are different.

Good location with easy access by Metro from Dulles and walkability to Union Station. Staff is friendly and helpful.
