Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe room was right off the lobby and next to the elevator and we could hear many conversations. The room was very small much like hotel rooms in Europe, would not stay more than 2 nights. The continental breakfast offered is seriously lacking and poor compared to other US chain hotels.
The room was small but manageable and very clean and updated. The washroom was clean and the shower had good pressure. The location was perfect for us and in walking distance of the cruise ship and close to restaurants and small markets.

United StatesBreakfast buffet had much less choice than Comfort Inn near Port Authority Bus Station (which books up fast) and coffee machine was broken.
Bed was very comfortable. Location easy walk to Daily Show studio and theaters. Lemon-infused water near front desk in lobby was very nice to drink.

United StatesThe size of this room is about my only complaint really. I felt too boxed in. The other complaint I guess is it was hot and the heater did not work. We had to unplug it. Then I got cold through the night. Beds were comfortable and I did sleep fine. It was nice to be close to Time square. I wish there was parking as that cost us another $100.00 .
Location was good, I did not eat breakfast.

United KingdomThere heater/ac/fan unit seemed to be broken. It blows all of the time and if you unplug it, it’s quieter but the gaps around the unit made it cold. A few refinishing touches and the room would be great. I hadn’t realized there was an additional hold for damages and I selected to pay at the property. When I checked in and paid for the entire stay, there was also an additional extra hold for the first night. The holds came off a few days after I checked out but unexpected expenses like that are costly. Read the terms before you book (though even when I re-read them, I didn’t see the second fee one). The staff were nice enough to recommend and book an airport shuttle. The ride was good but the driver charged my mother more than we were quoted. My ride was later as I had an evening flight. The driver/company also charged me more as they said the rate is higher after 2 or something. The hotel hadn’t realized the new rates. So, it’s not their fault but the driving company changing the rate is unexpected.
The breakfast was modest but luckily it was included. I’d highly recommend going early as it gets really crowded. The location was great for where I needed to be. Staff were friendly and attentive.

United StatesOur toilet constantly ran the entire time making it difficult to fall asleep. It then clogged up and overflowed all over the floor. The thermostat was not consistent making feel cool, then very warm back and forth. Too many people to have just 1 waffle maker for breakfast; people were vultures. The room was extremely tiny.
Quiet, friendly people and friendly staff, and I felt very safe.

United StatesThe king room we had booked (over 5 months ago) was not "available". Weak excuse was that the a/c in the king room that they had "designated" for us was not working. Front desk staffer wouldn't make eye contact, but told us that we could only have a queen room. It was a very small room (of course, it is NYC), but we wouldn't have minded if we'd gotten a room with the king bed we reserved.
Good location. The breakfast staff was very attentive, and it was a hard job they had, too. So many people were trying to access the very small buffet/dining area at the same time. But they tried their best and many people ate standing up.
