Outside the courtyard there were a few vagrants, although they never bothered us.

It offered us safety and security. Its courtyard is attractive, charming and welcoming. The staff were so helpful and polite. The apartment was fully equipped with everything we needed. It’s was an easy walk to Fishermans wharf with restaurants and bars.

We could not turn down the heater nor could the staff.

We liked the ability to park in a garage type setting however it would be nice if one's garage number was tied to the room's number. It wasn't bad just a little confusing initially.

The motel was clean, nice staff, and worked well for our needs at the time.

Nothing. The rooms on the Main Street side are a bit noisy due to the traffic but the bed room is to the other side, so no problem. The garage for the cars are quite small but it‘s feasible to park there (just needs some practice 😅)

Everything necessary was available (kitchen, bath room) 😊 very friendly and helpful employees and also dog friendly! Marina district is very nice and good restaurants are just around the corner.

The place was built in 1939, so beside the vintage charm expect some very weird noises until the radiator will heat, or hearing your neighbours coming/leaving/chatting in the room. The security deposit is not neglectable (we paid 250$ for three nights, per room, more than 50% of the accomodation cost), still not released 5 days after check-out. If you’re travelling on a strict budget, that might be something worth considering.

Charming place, with the murals and the courtyard full of plants, very well located in the Marina district. Parking available on site was a plus for us. The rooms are nice, and comfortable enough, although a bit small.

about 12 stairs to climb for entry ... no nearby park for a quick dog walk before bed ... the adjacent hotel was run down and the sidewalk just out front was trash filled

The bed had a sink hole, it was a coil mattress that seemed to be from the 80s. I slept basically at a 45 degree angle in the bed. It would be super great otherwise if the bed wasn't super uncomfortable. Please invest in new beds, I'd love to come back and have a good sleep.

Great location, traditionally (1940-style) location, sensibly modernized to preserve look and feel. Quiet if you have an room facing to the courtyard. Close to Chestnut Street restaurants and Presidio. Super friendly personnel.

Room was small but okay. The radiators are not adjustable by the guests.

Good location, friendly and helpful staff, I loved having a kitchen. The motel was cute and well-lit.

Our room was never cleaned while we were there. We only wanted it cleaned on the 3rd day and put the sign on the door but nothing happened. We ran out of some items as a result—Kleenex, coffee pods. Walks are very thin. One night the room next store was loud through most of the night. All other nights it was quiet.

Garages can be a bit tight, & my neighbors across the landing were very, very loud. But these were minor inconveniences.

I love the vintage charm of this place. The quaint architecture & flower-filled courtyard, the individual garages… it’s more like a home than a motel.

Although beautiful, the bedspreads are a bit shabby at this point and the carpeting was definitely overdue for a good cleaning.

Perfect base for exploring the Presidio, Palace of Fine Arts, and close to Chestnut St, for shopping and dining. We parked the car in one of the free garages available on the property when we arrived, and spent the next 3 days using taxis, buses and Ubers to explore the city. The enclosed courtyard is gorgeous, and enshrouded with enormous, exotic, climbing flowering plants. The courtyard creates a great barrier from the street noise. This was my third stay, and I really like to book a room with a kitchen, so we can relax and leisurely enjoy breakfast, chill our wine, store some snacks, and stash any leftovers we might want to reheat in the microwave. I will definitely stay here again.
