Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaGiven that the hotel was located on the beach they could have provided beach umbrellas. We had to rent one from a private company.
Location was great and the rooms were very comfortable.

United States of AmericaChain Smoker in room next to us and couldn't use the balcony all week. Hotel only credited us 120.00 because they said we didn’t report it until 2 days before we left. We paid a lot of money to get the view and balcony and thought we should be credited more. Unfortunately Merritt didn’t see it the same way.
Loved the view

AustraliaBooked through Booking.com and paid the advertised price. Upon checking out we had to pay an extra US$50 per day plus taxes for the resort fee. WHY as we have already paid?
Great location by the beach and staff were great. Food was very good.

United States of AmericaBeing told at check in that I had to pay a $300 incidental deposit. I didn't see that anywhere on the website during booking. Even though the funds are released upon checkout, I wasn't prepared for it.
The location was awesome. View was nice, and amenities were great

SwitzerlandHaving to pay a compulsory Resort Fee, plus its taxes, on top of the room fee. For services that we are not interested in and thus did not use. The advertised rate is de facto the rate for the room. Only at the end of a booking process can one see there are additional taxes, and the resort fee. We find this very misleading.

GermanyYou could see that the furniture is a bit used.
You have the beach, retail stores, cafes and restaurants right in front and inside of the hotel. Everything on Waikiki is in walking distance and it’s very vibrant at night. We loved the view of the beach from our balcony! Our room was very clean.

United States of AmericaThe only drawback for us was really the pool facilities. The hotel had 2 outdoor pools. While it was great that one was adult-only (so no kids running and splashing around or yelling), the pool itself was a major disappointment in terms of size. I would have expected a much larger pool from a 4-star hotel. I have stayed at other Marriott resort hotels and similar hotels from other brand chains and they managed to at least provide a large pool (twice the size of this one). Because of its size, this one would get crowded very quickly even with only 8-10 people in it at a time. While we still had a great time staying here, we'll definitely try a different property next time as we always use the Pool when we stay at a hotel.
The location of this hotel was simply perfect! The beach access was right across the street from the hotel (we could see the ocean from our balcony). It was also in a quieter area of Waikiki while still being central and within walking distance of all the major attractions, shopping, and dining. Marriott never disappoints when it comes to amenities and rooms. Our room was on a high floor, with 2 balconies and a partial view of the ocean. I am a Marriott Bonvoy member so we were also upgraded to a deluxe king suite which offered a separate sitting area making the room even bigger and roomier. The hotel and rooms were very clean and modern, as expected from Marriott properties. A major bonus was beach chairs and towels were included as part of the resort fee. We could check out a set every day to take to the beach and return at the end of the day. There was also a Starbucks and a 24/7 convenience store located inside the hotel lobby, which made it a breeze to purchase coffee and supplies whenever needed.

AustraliaLifts can be busy with long queues but they move quickly. The pool area is adequate but nothing special and the poolside bar and restaurant has great service but the food and drinks themselves are very average.
The rooms are clean and modern. They are spacious rooms and appear to be recently renovated which is much better compared to a lot of hotel rooms in Waikiki which are dated. The Marriott is well located on the quieter end of Waikiki so you don't get all the noise and get a decent night's sleep. Having a hire car place within the complex is incredibly handy and because you're at the edge of Waikiki you can skip the traffic and head straight out to visit other parts of the island.
