Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThere is too much fragrance in the room from cleaning products used. There is no place to refrigerate items unless you pay more for a mini fridge. There is no overhead lighting in the room.
The location is great. The room was neat and clean.

United StatesThe carpet on the stair in our room had a hole in it. Would have appreciated better lighting in the bathroom for putting on make-up. Perhaps you could add a small lighted mirror specific for this purpose.
The location of this hotel was the primary reason we chose it and enjoyed it.

United StatesWhile fully realizing that I was paying a premium for the excellent location, it was less than gratifying to see that every single day of our stay (3 day stay - Thursday night to Saturday night) had a DIFFERENT price/day. The final bill was close to the total quoted to me when I made the reservation but it was not really evident when I made the booking that the price per day was going to vary as much as it did.
The Bostonian Hotel is in an excellent location to visit Boston.

United StatesRoom 626 is extremely dated and in need of lots of TLC. $30.00 a night “destination fee” is ridiculous. Yes it is situated in the midst of historical sites but the center of town is now the new seaport.
Front desk staff pleasant.

United StatesThe rooms were comfortable & clean but nothing special. We would have liked the option to book two queen size beds but instead of only found doubles available
The location was excellent! Close to Quincy Market shops & restaurants and easy walk to everywhere we wanted to go, especially Long Warf. The staff was also very friendly! The little balconies had beautiful city views of the customs tower & great in the morning to open up.

United StatesWe were told water bottles are complimentary yet they were only stocked on the first day (fridge in the lobby). The rest of the stay, stock was never replenished. Also, we were never greeted by the reception staff throughout our stay.
Location is right in the middle of downtown, opposite Quincy market. Loved the Juliet balcony in the King suite

Coffee was not replaced and room was not refreshened… Wanted bottled water and there was none to be found in the lobby and the restaurant $15 for a bottle so we drank tap from the bathroom sink.

New ZealandVery expensive, especially with 5 different daily charges. Why not inclusive rates like most other countries? Restaurant, which we didn't use, has no atmosphere, more like a bar.

United KingdomExcellent location for the historical elements of tourism, Minutes from several underground stations. A five minute stroll to Long Wharf , the hub of the sea-going tours and whale watching. Also the Salem ferry. Literally across the road from Faneuil Hall and its multitude of street food vendors. United StatesUpon check-in and out, I had to drop my bags, then go park my car. Consequently, when checking out, it was pouring rain, and I had to, first, go get my car, then drive back to the hotel to get my bags. Which wouldn’t have been so bad if the hotel and parking structure weren’t both on one-way streets! I had to deal with crazy traffic just to get out of the garage and return to the hotel! Since a parking fee was charged by the hotel, it would have been wonderful if the valet parked & retrieved cars for the guests. Other than that…I had a great time staying at this location!
Location was great!
