Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandThe ceiling fan was struggling to cool the room but we were from a cold climate in NZ. We could have opened the windows but the escape ladder was right outside and we weren’t sure it would be safe to sleep with them open.
The location was great. In the middle so you could walk everywhere including Fisherman’s Wharf and Union Square. Coffee machine in the downstairs lobby. Nice little corner cafe about a minute away with great coffee, danish and muffins. The room had everything you needed and the building as a whole had a lot of character. Lower Nob hill so the hills were ok and we hardly saw any homeless on the streets around us.

CanadaThe elevator is a little old, just like the building itself. There were a couple instances where it randomly stopped between floors. I did not feel like I was in too much danger. I decided to take the stairs instead. I also wish the cleaning staff would come a little bit more frequently.
The staff was very friendly. I loved the location. The room was the size that I expected. The restaurant downstairs also had very delicious food that I enjoyed. Overall, it was a fun stay. No complaints.

United KingdomThe valet parking was really expensive and not especially well advertised as such before we booked (we thought it came with free parking, oops!)— suggest parking out of town and getting public transport in. The bed wasn’t very comfy for me (against a wall on one side and squashed as well as soft) and the room was too small for us to unpack our luggage comfortably.
The hotel felt modern and clean and the free continental breakfast and coffee was a great plus too! The location was decent, but be prepared to walk a number of blocks for the best public transport connections.

United StatesCould hear everything from the guests next-door just a regular door separated us. Could hear them talking and when they came home late. It was fine for one night, but I would not have stayed there for multiple days.
The hotel was cute-it felt like a European hostel- and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was nice.

IrelandQuite noisy at night as we were staying in a room by the street, a lot of cars and ambulances (as hospital is right next door) but it was fine. House keeping would come in unannounced which I didn’t like.
Hotel was beautiful! Great location! Very clean! Very comfy! Safe location! 10 min walk to union square to the shops and restaurants! Coffee shop right next door! Bar and shop just around the corner too! Restaurant down stairs looked nice, but we didn’t try it! Also breakfast was included. Coffee machine downstairs which you could get coffee whenever. There was an ice machine and microwave in the hall aswell! Reception staff were lovely and very friendly! Let us check out at 12 with no charge!

CanadaThe rooms need a safe.
On the one hand I liked the location, but it is on the fringe of some shady parts. We learnt not to go down hill, always up. The property was lovely. The restaurant was amazing. The staff were kind and helpful.

United KingdomOur room was on the front street and it was incredibly noisy outside due to vehicles. Could hear everything even with windows closed. This isn't the hotel's fault of course!!!
Lovely room, good location (go UP the hill!), very comfy pillows and bed, clean and great facilities, breakfast and complimentary hot drinks (available 24/7) was a great plus. Lovely, traditional San Franciscan hotel.

SingaporeWhile the Nob Hill Hotel offers a charming stay and excellent access to San Francisco’s top attractions, guests should be aware that walking toward certain areas like the Tenderloin may require extra caution. The city is actively working to address homelessness, but street conditions can be unpredictable. Planning your walking routes ahead and staying alert is recommended.
I had a lovely experience at Nob Hill Hotel in San Francisco. The location is fantastic—just a short walk or cable car ride to iconic spots like Pier 39, Lombard Street, and Union Square. It made exploring the city incredibly convenient. The hotel itself has a quaint, historic charm with Victorian-style decor that adds character to the stay. My room was clean and comfortable, and while the breakfast was simple, it was a nice touch to start the day—toast, cereal, fruit, and coffee were available. Staff were generally helpful, and the atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming. If you're looking for a budget-friendly hotel with great access to San Francisco’s top attractions, Nob Hill Hotel is a solid choice.
