Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We’re currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil, and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaNothing. Liked the hotel and staff.
Charming old hotel with beautiful original woodwork and old fashioned touches. Bathrooms have been beautifully renovated. Very clean and pretty rooms. Delightful views of the ferry and the sea. Food was surprisingly good for a small place.

United States of AmericaEverything was lovely.
The restaurant at the hotel was delicious and the staff were excellent. The room was small but perfect for a solo traveler and the private bathroom was across the hall and very spacious and clean. The location was right next to the ferry dock and there was designated parking for the hotel. The hotel was quiet and lovely structure.

United States of AmericaBlackout curtains would have been really helpful (My kids woke up at 5:15 in the morning). The down comforter was so cozy and would have been great in Cooler temperatures. But in the summer, the option of a lighter blanket would have been nice.
Location could not have been better. Staff were exceptional. It was one of the most picturesque, fun and unique places I’ve ever stayed and they took the time for really rad special touches. Can’t wait to go back!

United States of AmericaThe lack of television and cable was a surprise but I guess appropriate given the attention to furnishings. In other similar settings the modern conveniences were cleverly assimilated as modern bathrooms were in this setting.
This period building and furniture were the perfect complement to sitting on the 2 nd story porch watching the ferry arrive and depart.

United States of AmericaThe remoteness from the main town (Eastsound) on the island, with no easy way to get there or to explore the rest of the island.
The beautiful hotel is right there when you debark from the ferry from Anacortes to Orcas Island. There is an exceptional grocery store across the street and an excellent cafe on the premises. The fuller, more formal dining room was not open on the days we stayed there. The rooms were attractive and ample, comfortable and quiet. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The only draw back is that without a car of one's own, transportation on the island is very limited. The shuttle service had ended for the season and there were few taxis and those were very expensive. Our solution was to hire an island guide with his own car. The hotel would benefit greatly from linkage to more accessible transportation.

United States of AmericaIt was perfect for us, but maybe not for everyone. Limited amenities in the room and no elevator.
We loved our stay at the Orcas Hotel. It is such a beautiful property and has an authentic historic feel. It seems that each room is unique, but the Buck Bay room (Double room with a Queen bed) was spacious and very comfortable for the two of us.
