To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United States of AmericaThere were issues in the bathroom; the mirror hung crooked, and there was rust on all the fixtures. The towels were thin, and there was rust on the mini fridge that was breaking on the floor. The first two nights, we struggled with a police incident next door and a hot water issue with our shower. The facility was a little rundown and not our normal standard of stay.
Clayton, the manager, is the best! He genuinely cares about customer experience. Clayton was very accommodating and had us return at a discounted price and stay in the suite!

CanadaCleanliness wasn't the greatest. All the main areas had been cleaned but areas under the bed and around the furniture weren't swept or vacuumed. There was also a hair on the bed.
Great location in the heart of Little Italy. Room was what you'd expect - not too small but not huge. Bed is comfy and TV set-up is great too.

United States of AmericaThe room was difficult to find as I was unaware of the hotel having two sections that were separated by a long corridor that appears to head towards what looks like a garage. The front desk attendant could have told me to avoid my having to go back and ask how to find the room when the room numbers ended before my room number. Also, I had a HUGE cockroach in my room upon entry. I was able to eliminate it, but it didn’t exactly reinforce perception of cleanliness. Lastly, the bed was clean but the sheets are sort of worn and no longer crisp white from age. The beds and linens are the most important factors in assessing the quality of amenities and cleanliness.
Location was great. Lobby was impressive; appearance of a modern and hip hotel from the lobby.
