Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

AustraliaFor the high room price, it was disappointing to have no room service for my 3-day stay. A sign in the room states rooms are only cleaned between guests for the environment and water conservation. I agree there's no need to clean and change of towels every day, but it doesn't cost the earth to replenish tea/coffee provision and make the bed. The air-conditioning unit in the room was loud.
Large hotel with nice decor, attached to conference centre - where I was attending a conference. The room is large and well furnished. My flight arrived early in the day, and it was nice to be allowed early check-in (my room happened to be free). Close to tourist wharf, harbour and aquarium.

CanadaOur room was very close to the highway traffic so all day and night all we heard was honking and speeding cars. Also our patio looked out on the pool and hot tub and on the last day kids were in the pool shouting at 7 am.
The beds, room and hot tub were all very nice. Loved being so close to the restaurants and also close to the water.

The hotel is well located in Monterey, very close to the fisherman's wharf. The room we stayed was spacious and very clean. Lots of plugs and charging points too. The breakfast was good with large portions. The lobby was well decorated for Christmas and NYE. Would definitely stay again.

The rooms were very quiet, comfortable, with a very elegant decoration. They were equipped with wifi, usb outlets, tv, coffee makers, etc. everything you will find in high end hotels, but at a reasonable price given the location. You are close to all that Monterey offers. The emplyees were polite and helped us with all our needs. There is a bar and a restaurant on site, where we could order to take out. The hotel is ideally located within walking distance of Fisherman’s wharf, the marina, downtown shops and retaurants, and Cannery Row. The Aquarium is far away, but the walk is pleasant. The hotel has a parking facility, a bit expensive ($22/24h), but convenient and protected. After looking at the other hotels nearby, we cose the Portola for its better value and we were more than satisfied.

United StatesMinor inconvenience. The coffee maker was not working but staff brought a new machine literally within a minute. We stayed one night and wanted to have dinner at hotel restaurant with good menu but on X-mas day only fixed menu was available. We really liked breakfasts and would like to try dinner menu in future visits.
The location was great. Variety of restaurants were nearby. Harbor is in a short walking distance and Aquarium was a mile light walking on a well prepared trail. The staff were very responsive and quick in delivering requests. Our family dog was warmly welcomed. Beds were comfortable and comforter and linens were of good quality. The room was very quiet: either we had very quiet neighbors or insulation must be good. There are many rooms with balconies and we found it very useful and our dog loved taking in fresh air there.

This was our favourite hotel in a long trip across Arizona and California. The design is beautiful which gives a real sense of attention to detail. The staff were helpful and well informed. The location was quiet but also full of possibilities for walking and exploring. A stylish place which made for a relaxing stay.

United StatesEverything went smoothly, but was very rushed by the check-in clerk. I was charged parking fees when I did not have a car and didn't realize it when I was chkng in. Another party drove and she paid her parking fee. I didn't contact the hotel about it, because I was so sick with shingles shortly after, and now I believe too much time has passed. But, if the clerk had asked, how many vehicles we had, and the owners' names, I'm pretty sure I would have caught it. Everything else about the hotel was good, and I would book again, I'd just be more careful after a long drive. Denise
