Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomI wish we could have stayed longer! Getting to the hotel we found was at the top of a lengthy hill - no matter which way we seemed to come at it - but we were staying in San Fran - a bit like going to Scotland and being upset by people wearing kilts - that would be our only warning to people - but just embrace it, take your time and enjoy being in San Fran! The hotel had nothing wrong with it - the water and ice machines outside the rooms were a god send!
We loved the manor of the staff, always pleasant and helpful. We were welcomed as all guests should be, and made to feel right at home. The room was spot on with everything we needed. The bed was really comfy and the shower had a decent amount of pressure - this was good as we had read up that San Fran suffers from low pressure - so we were relieved to find this wasn't too much of an issue here. The bar area looked really good, but with this being our first part of our visit from the UK - we were in bed fairly early considering the 8 hour time difference - but we did make use of the little cafe in the mornings that is attached the the hotel.

United KingdomHad a cleanliness issue in the bathroom but as soon as we told reception they sorted it. Booking.com advertises this as a 5 star hotel, in our experience it was more like a good three star.
Friendly staff who are really happy to help, great location with transport links for getting around the city, loved having a cold water station and access to things like yoga mats.

United KingdomBed was way too soft. Back was killing me after. The cafe was a rip off and attendant rude. Asked her about a food item she sold and she said I don’t know you will have to read the package. Also location was central but so many homeless crazy people around.
Was clean and good sized rooms. Shower head was weird, could have been a rain shower instead. Felt the water pressure was to hard.

United KingdomThe lack of bedside table for each double bed, rather than one in between the 2, was frustrating but we made do and it didnt spoil our stay at all.
The staff were excellent. The room was cleaned and remade every day. The on site coffee shop was lovely. The location was absolutely spot on.

United StatesCoffee maker should not be in the wardrobes, or should be moveable for use. Limited storage space. Rooms vary quite a bit. Front facing rooms are noisy.
Location was excellent. Room was well maintained every day. Free water availability was most appreciated. Ability to store luggage for a late day flight was most appreciated.

United KingdomThat room had only 2 bath towels and 4 pillows in a family room. Staff rectified this immediately upon request
Great location, just a block from Union Square so perfect for the trams and shopping. Staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and went the extra mile to make sure my husband and daughter enjoyed their birthdays. Family room was great, rear facing so lovely and quiet, just check you have enough towels and pillows as we only had 1 each and my girls always sleep with 2. Staff quickly supplied more upon request. Supplied toiletries were good, had I known I wouldn’t have taken our own. Wine in the room was decent too. Would definitely stay again!

United KingdomThe staff in the cafe need to cheer up. One guy didnt even say hello or look at me. He had a mask on. Maybe a change in vocation would help.
You are right downtown and the trams go right by the end of the street. The coffee shop in the hotel is very good coffee.

United KingdomWindows are quite thin and we were at the front of the property so street noise was quite loud - not a problem for us as city folk we slept fine but worth baring in mind if noise bothers your sleep!
Modern, really nice aesthetic and all the extra amenities make it feel super unique. Bar really nice downstairs as well. All the staff were lovely and helpful. Great location for exploring San Francisco super close to great transport links.

United StatesThe bar hours were from 6-10, which made it hard to check out if you happened to be out and about for dinner and afterwards, but there are plenty of options in the neighborhood!
This hotel is in a quieter part of the Union Square neighborhood, in a cool historic building, close to multiple transit options. The facilities were nice, and we liked having access to coffee in the lobby to kickstart our day. Would definitely consider it for a return journey!

United StatesAbsolutely nothing. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am absolutely OBSESSED with this property and this is now going to be my go to hotel for San Francisco. Staff was so kind, helpful and accommodating. They literally bend over backwards for their guests. From having a typewriter delivered to your room so you can write a letter to a friend for them to mail off for you, to being brought a book cart to your room for you to check out and if you like the book, you can buy it for 10$ or maybe even just give it to you for free! They will literally bring you anything to your room if they have it. You can even borrow a bike and helmet! This hotel is so incredibly unique! Each room is just amazing with different details and cute additions, while also following their book theme throughout. I would know because I slept in two different types of rooms; both were different and a delight.
