We thought the lounge would have a different menu from the restaurant. We don’t love a heavy dinner. Ended up going out to dinner both nights (to a pub and for pizza). The lobby coffee service ran out both mornings before we could get coffee.

My sister and I wanted a weekend getaway where we could swim and relax. We loved the indoor and outdoor pools and sauna. Swimming during a brief hailstorm was memorable! Our room was huge with plenty of space to relax and a very comfortable bed. Lovely fireplace in the lobby.

We went to the spa for a special occasion and had manicures/pedicures and massages. The manicures & pedicures chipped the next day on both our hands and feet. I called the spa on Monday to let them know and they apologized and said they would send us a gift card to use on our next trip. Unfortunately they sent us $20 each for a gift card. The manicures & pedicures are expensive and cost a lot more than $20 each. I spoke to the spa assistant manager and I should have called back and asked for a refund. We could go to our local salon and get better manicures & pedicures for a lot less money. I would return for other services, but skip the manicure/pedicure.

Minor snafu- Fitness center cancelled classes during the holiday week without notifying the resort.

Only complaint was an incident when I arrived at Fresh Salt for dinner after the Christmas buffet. My wife and I arrived at 6pm without a reservation and were turned away. The hostess, (older women ) said they were booked for the entire evening. I managed to walk through the restaurant and noticed a handful of open tables throughout. Perplexed, I went to the front desk to speak to the general manager. One of the waitresses from Fresh Salt overheard my conversation as she was walking by. She immediately assured me that she would fix the situation. She introduced me to the restaurant manager Anna. Anna sat us down at a table immediately. There were no other guests waiting to be seated, and this was 90 min. before the the restaurant was closing. 3 other tables in my area remained empty during my entire dinner up until we finished to pay our bill. To recap, the Saybrook staff came through and fixed the situation due to that individuals (hostess) failure.

Quality furnishings in room and comfortable bed. Excellent staff, very friendly and accommodating througout the property. Even the kitchen and waitstaff are so polite when walking across the hallway and replenishing the buffet food etc. I've been to many hotels here and abroad and very impressed with the hospitality and manners. Keep up the good work Saybrook Inn management, excellent job!

Outside pool was closed and it was not mentioned on the website before our arrival. Enclosed pool area didn't have pool service, even though it was mentioned on the website it should have. Restaurant service was a bit slow so take that in mind if you are in a hurry.

Pool is great and so is jacuzzi and sauna. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Restaurant food was great. Everything was clean. They helped with anything we asked. View is awsome. Location is great, right on the ocean. Bed is comfortable. Bedroom is big and spacious and so is the bathroom. Lots of decorative stuff for Christmas. Everything was clean.

Cannot think of a thing, honestly....Maybe having room service available other than just for breakfast would have been nice?

Loved the new casual Choo Choo Lounge, where as a single I could have a quiet meal in relaxed surroundings. The staff were unfailing cheerful, and seemed genuinely happy, as opposed to just putting it on. I will definitely go back!
