Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandNo elevator. Very hard to lift your bags up and down. A lovely man named Frank did help when we insisted. But the receptionist checking in wasn’t very helpful.
The coffee in the lobby was fabulous! Also the room inc the shower was very nicely designed!

United StatesThe rooms are dated even with its modern appearance. The room had minor wear and tear from previous guest. I think the rooms could use a more thorough cleaning. Also, the heating unit would make since squeaking noises.
The staff were all so kind, the location is great and felt very safe.

AustraliaThe bathrooms need a refresh and an update - it wouldn't be hard to make them nicer and use the space better. The keyless entry with app was very capricious and we ended up needing physical keycards
The Sohotel is a quirky boutique hotel. The minute you walk in you get a sense of the unique style through the eclectic decor. Staff are friendly and approachable. Complimentary coffee and tea in the morning is much appreciated. We were a party of 4 in a double queen room (room 219). Fairly small space with a tiny but serviceable bathroom for four people. We stayed 6 or so nights and were fairly comfortable - you have to manage the space a bit in a room like this but overall we enjoyed ourselves (we were out most of the time so being in the room was just for the end of each day). Some people have complained about the hissing heater - it does hiss, but that didn't bother us. We would definitely stay again if only for the fabulous location near Little Italy, Chinatown, Soho, Lower East Side - a quick walk to the two bridges (Brooklyn and Manhattan) and subway all around. You can't really go wrong

IrelandNo frills, clean, central hotel. Modern young vibes, good if you do not particularly appreciate traditional, more formal hotels. We had a massive (35 square meter) family room for four: super quiet!

IrelandNo proper storage for clothes in the room. There for a week and nowhere to put stuff other than two rails on the wall. Would prefer if room services was a given rather than having to request it.
Funky decor. Easy access with app. Bathroom had double sinks, which is great when sharing.

United StatesMaybe they could provide sweetener for the coffee in the lobby. Other than that, I really didn't have complaints. I thought it was a nice boutique hotel.
The Sohotel is a charming, boutique hotel on Broome Street. We drove into the city and parked at a lot 3 blocks away. The hotel will validate your parking ticket so that you get a reduced rate. The front desk staff was friendly and the room was spacious enough for the city. Also, there was not outside noise at all at night, which made it easy to sleep. There was coffee in the morning in the lobby, which was also a nice touch. Overall, I recommend this hotel. The location is great, just blocks from Chinatown and Little Italy and we shopped in Soho.

United KingdomWindow was defective and wouldn't close properly. Desk sent someone to close it but told & daren't trying opening again. Not the biggest room for 3-4 people plus luggage, but acceptable. Places to put luggage, or hang coats / wardrobe? Although an industrial pipe with hangers was available and in fitting with decor.
Lovely boutique style hotel, friendly staff, and close to amenities. Clean and tidy, nice touch of having coffee/tea making in foyer and loved the ice machine. Small fridge would have been nice touch.

The room was great for our family of 4. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The location is convenient to subway stations. The hotel was very clean as well and the staff were friendly and courteous. All of our needs were met during our stay. The location is more at the crossroads of Chinatown and Little Italy than Soho, but that was not an issue for us, just mentioned it for information.
