Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaStaying at the 1720 House was an experience if you are looking to really connect with a traveling companion or having alone time. There was light breakfast served daily ( blueberries, yogurt, bread, and coffee). It was just enough to carry us to an early lunch. The website needs some updating because some of the amenities (bikes) were very old and not movable. It's a quaint historic house so there isn't central air however every room has window A/C and there is a screened in porch to relax and read a nice book and sip some adult beverages. There are no televisions in the room which was nice because it gave time to connect and discuss the days adventures and plan for the next day and get some rest in very, very comfortable beds. The drawback is there's a television downstairs but it doesn't work so if it's a miserable day out (rain/thunderstorms) grab another book from the shelf. The hostess Abby is a published author so may be give her novels a read. The reason I gave my rating is because although my stay wasn't 5 star I do believe that running this type of business isn't easy and can be expensive when trying to accommodate everyone's needs or wants. Also the 1720 House is located on Main Street so there's lots to do and places to explore. I didn't want some of my disappointments dampening my entire stay. So I recommend people to come out and visit and do your research you will defitinitley enjoy your stay!

United States of AmericaThe bathroom sink was dirty, there was debris in it. Then when I tried to clean it, there was hair and more debris in the drain. Quite unpleasant.

United States of AmericaThe stairs were much to steep and far apart. I know this is an old house but it made it very difficult for my friend and I to go up and down. If we needed the bathroom it was upstairs.
The house was located on Main St. yet it was quiet and the rooms were pleasant. There was a nice breakfast and air conditioning in the room.

United States of AmericaThe hosts. They did not seem welcoming at all. The house was also old and the breakfast was not that good which is contradicting from what the hosts had mentioned on the website.

United States of AmericaI was disappointed to not have a full bed and breakfast experience. I did not see the "Covid" disclaimer until a week prior. The B & B had tea, yogurt and Blueberries.
The place was as described, old, rustic and in a great convenient location. I was attracted to this place because of its age and history. So my review will be based on that. 1) The room was as described, old dressers and bed. 2) The bathroom was small, clean and accommodating. 3) The downstairs was quaint, antique items and time sensitive decor. 4) The surrounding grounds where we'll kept, Beautiful landscaped yard and cute birdhouse. 5) The keeper was pleasant and knowledgeable. 6) Convenient to the ferry and local shops. 7) 10 min ride via public bus to Oak Bluffs. 8) Friendly atmosphere and shop owners

United States of America1720 House, simply put, is not a true bed and breakfast. The facilities were old and dirty, very bad customer service, the hostess/owner was not accommodating.
