How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Rooms were a little musty. One of them smelled a bit like stale cigarette smoke and mold.
Beautiful property at the foot of Monument Mountain.

This is my second stay at the property. The location is close to the center of town yet feels like it's in the mountains. The breakfast choices are plentiful and delicious, and the rooms are clean. We enjoyed sitting around the fire that is lit at night and meeting other visitors. I definitely recommend this hotel.

The walls are quite thin but you expect that of these buildings the plug didn’t work in the sink but there was nothing that stopped me from having a wonderful sleep.
Perfect for a stop off or travelling through the check in was so easy and straightforward Room had everything you needed. Didn’t meet any staff but that’s ok. The area is very peaceful.

The only thing that was slightly odd to me was the half wall in the shower. Really minimal issue.
Beautiful setting, clean and rustic-it felt like a family summer camp. Nice assortment for breakfast, and we loved that it's a dog friendly motel!

the room can not be fully darkened, it’s always a bit bright because of light shining in.

Nothing major. Fitted mattress sheets didn’t really fit and kept coming off. TV remote didn’t work. Didn’t call anybody because didn’t want the hassle. Big hole in washcloth.
Clean. Nicely decorated. Comfortable.

I guess everything is expensive these days but for $175 a coffee maker in the room would be nice. 7:30 is late to wait for coffee.

The chairs in the unit were uncomfortable.

This is an older motel that was refurbished while retaining its original charm. Our room (#9) was basic but spotless with a very comfortable bed. The continental breakfast had lots of variety and good coffee. For those seeking other options, there are several restaurants within a short drive. I'd also like to mention that due to an unexpected family situation at home, we were almost forced to cancel our stay. We were able to sort things out and keep our reservation but I'd be remiss if I didn't thank Rhonda (innkeeper) for her prompt responses and assistance with late check-in instructions. We'd recommend the Briarcliffe and will be back!

That it took a bit for the manager to warm up.
Funkiness, the fact that the room had a back window which most motel rooms don't have. Made a big difference in the experience of the room.

I can't think of anything.
Breakfast was good. They offered a good selection of foods. Probably the first hotel that offers good quality tea as a beverage option. The hotel has a fire pit. S'Mores kits are available upon request. Quiet and comfortable, yet accessible to Great Barrington and Lenox.

Rhonda is absolutely wonderful. I rated it a 9/10 because its a motel, so a bit of a different feel. That being said the rooms were clean and the price point is incredible. I can't recommend Rhonda and her staff more. They are why we kept coming back! :) Rhonda gave us complimentary s'mores kits for the kids to have around the firepit one night. One family mentioned not much to do around the area during the night and this definitely satisfied that need! Highly recommend coming here understanding its "no frills" and just "right"! :)

It would have been nice to have the game room open in the evening. there isn't much to do in the area at night and that could have made our evening more memorable.
