How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Great accommodations. Staff friendly and courteous and went beyond with explaining everything about the inn and the room. Enjoyed our drink in the bar followed by a highly dining experience. Breakfast which is included was great with a vast choice to choose from. Not the first time staying at the inn and it won't be my last.

Our dining experience in the main dining room was somewhat lacking. Food was served cold and service was slow. Even though a large table for 10 was also being served, our experience will probably prevent us from dining again at the Inn.
Breakfast was at the Cafe and it was outstanding. Service was friendly and attentive. The front desk staff were wonderful. The attention to detail in the Inn was very evident.

Our room was too warm the first night. However, we did put the heat very low for the remainder of the time.
The breakfast at the inn was outstanding. We appreciated all the options as well as size choices.

Breakfast was great. We enjoyed everything but getting access to their internet. My Google account treated it as a hacking attempt and caused several issues.

The price of food and drink is high.
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and comfortable!

The staff was awesome. Our overall experience could not have been better. You would think that due to the age of the building it would be a bit run down and depressing but the exact opposite is the true. The true charm of the Inn is the old world feel. As for the restaurant it was exceptional each and every meal was a hit for both myself and my wife. I would recommend anybody looking for a couples get away give it a shot.

My room was over the tavern and the cleaning people were moving furniture around at 11:00pm. It was disturbing.
Nice welcome for my dog... Dining room and dinner was very good. Staff was friendly.

Dorset is a beautiful village and the Dorset Inn is right at the heart of it. It’s a very beautiful old building and immediately felt very cozy and warm. The staff are very friendly and our room was perfect for what we needed. The internet worked well for a full day’s worth of work video conferencing. The included breakfast was delicious. I made the mistake of reading through all the reviews and being incredibly anxious that I booked the right place for our weekend stay but they read were not a good reference point for the inn and do not do the inn justice. Unless you live in picturesque solitude, cars driving past the window at 30mph will not upset you. The rooms can be chilly but every room has a space heater and extra blankets - we arrived during a snow storm and felt fine in 10 degree weather. The water takes a few mins to run hot but we didn’t run out of hot water. You can hear other guests walk by your room IF they are noisy, much like any other hotel (I’ve been disturbed by much worse at more modern, luxury hotels in the past) because there are others in the same building. All in all, none of the reviews that touch on these issues should stop you booking here. If you want complete silence, understand that hotels include other guests and may not be the right place for you. Call ahead, let them know your concerns (if any) they are very accommodating and lovely people who just want their guests to have a great stay.

Road noise on the Route 30 side of the building is loud.
The Inn is in the perfect location, very clean and comfortable, modern amenities in an historic building.
