Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

CanadaThe hotel advised that renovations are happening but for the price I paid this time around, it did not feel like a good value to be staying while there is major renovations happening.
I've stayed at The Jane for many many years - it felt like home away from home for a period of time. I have been previously since the property has been undergoing the current renovation and it was tolerable, so am hopeful that it will once again be a cozy place to stay in New York's West Village... But be advised that right now (Dec 2023) it is *VERY* much under renovation. Plastic sheets, signage not to use stairs, construction crew in hallways, etc. I love the longtime staff, the location, and the fair price for the minimal amenities are what have kept me coming back, which I am hopeful will make it worth returning to in future once renovation is wrapped up.

The room was clean. The provided dressing gowns were large and of good quality. The shared bathroom was clean and the shower powerful. It was never full.

United StatesI signed up for the shared bathroom, but 2 toilets per floor is not enough toilets. Also NY is an expensive town so inflated prices are to be expected but I think that the room is not worth the price. I think if the room were half the price it would have been a fair value but paying $200 for a twin bed and shared bathrooms while most of the hotel is under construction felt a little ridiculous.
The locations is very close to a lot of the main Chelsea galleries and Greenwich Village. The art deco style of the hotel is beautiful and I can't wait to see how the renovations turn out. The rooms were small but comfortable. The room also felt like being transported back to the 1920s so I really enjoyed that. The person at the front desk was very nice and helpful.

IrelandThe rooms are so small… it is fine if you just need a place to sleep for max 2 nights, but that’s it. There’s no space in the room for chair/table; just about enough space for a very narrow bed. Due to renovations there are absolutely no dining/drink options available currently so it is just a bed for the night.
I love the location of The Jane… close to subway and on a quiet street. Staff are friendly and the shared bathrooms are always clean

United KingdomI love The Jane. This is my 6th stay at this location. However, this time there was no notice when i booked that there is ongoing construction work. That the hotel would be essentially a building site. Which means it was pretty dirty in The corridors (very dusty). Signage for construction workers not to take lifts etc but they did. The builders kept using the only small guest bathroom for the floor (due to the usual bathroom area cut off with building work) and not putting the toilet seat down & peeing on the floor. Which you really don’t want to come into. I paid the same money (if not more than usual) & had significantly less access. If I had known the situation, I probably would have booked a different location. Would have been nice for a heads up on the upgrading construction work ongoing when I booked.
Love the Jane. The staff that work there are incredible. Always so friendly & always helpful and available. They’re one of the best assets about staying at The Jane. The location is fantastic & I love the uniqueness of the hotel. And is really quiet!

AustraliaIt was disappointing that there was nothing related to the history of the survivors of the Titanic's stay. That would have been really interesting for the traveller. The hotel was undergoing renovation so it was a mess near the lifts. We should have been alerted to that.
I expected a boat like cabin and it definitely was, replete with restricted movement! Fortunately my husband was able to manage the ladder into the upper bunk bed but he is thin and athletic! The shared bathrooms were clean and people were respectful of space and privacy. The hotel is in an excellent location near the High Line and Whitney Museum of American Art.

CanadaAs stated above, it will be even better after all the renos are done. But it's still really beautiful right now. The lobby and room hallways weren't under construction, just a couple areas off the hallways, which I presume will be a cafe and bar once it's done. I will be back again, for sure, any time I am in New York City in future, and it will be even more amazing if they have some attached facilities like a bar and cafe.
The bathrooms were super clean and nice, considering I booked a room with the shared third floor bathroom. Everything looks perfectly 1920s in this hotel, it was amazing. The only reason I didn't rate it a '10' is that it will be even better once they finish renovating, and hopefully have a little cafe or something in there. The renovations themselves caused no problems, though. There was work going on outside (nothing to do with the hotel, I don't think), so the area was a little noisy during the day. The hotel itself was quiet though, and the area is great and safe to walk around at night.

United StatesMattresses are very thin/uncomfortable. I'm 45 with a bad back, and I did not sleep well. The right shower door on 3rd floor bathroom doesn't stay open when not in use, so that stall never airs out compared to the left one. It seemed muggier in that one compared to the right.
