Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe room was extremely dusty with clouds of dust suspended in the air, which made the stay rough since I have allergies. I knew the reputation of this hotel when it was the Maidstone Arms pre-pandemic and had cocktails and lobster rolls here frequently, now it’s under new management. The restaurant is closed and the ambiance has changed. It was nice to offer continental breakfast, but coffee was better in town.
location, comfortable linens and bedding. attractive common spaces.

United States of AmericaSaid breakfast was included but it wasn’t. Not even coffee available. Very expensive considering how small the room was, the fact that despite it being low season with almost no other guests, they put us in a room up a narrow flight of stairs overlooking a loud road. Very expensive for a small room at low season.
Beautiful place. Helpful manager. Great bed.

United States of AmericaThe Maidstone Hotel was very throw back chic. Reminded me of a favorite in Paris, Le Hotel on the left bank. Cool vibe decor, lot of velvet and textured fabrics, particularly loved the Woodstock of 1969 photos everywhere. Nina and all the staff were warm and welcoming, relaxed and non-pretentious. The bartender made the best Paloma Martini's. The fact that it is dog friendly will bring me back with our little Vienna, an Australian Shepherd mini.

United States of AmericaNo breakfast available, kitchen closed till lunch time. Self serve buffet of hard boiled eggs, some pastries, nespresso machine. Extremely rude staff, the few that were around. No evening reception desk, no service to speak of at very high prices. Stayed here several times before the hotel changed management, it was totally different. Room was in bad need of refurbishment. Zero maintenance of the property.
The only thing that didn’t change since new ownership: the location!

United KingdomAvoid this outrageously overpriced, tired mess of a hotel! So bad that we finally just left a day early, giving up our $1,500-a-night for that last night. The room itself was filthy and tired. Bathroom broken down with toilet hissing in middle of the night. Room cleaning did not happen until we complained at 3:00 one day and then 4:00 the next day. Evening room service was suspended. It needs a physical renovation and new management. Here's a picture of our cottage suite Linne with us living out of our bags for 5 nights because there were four hangers in the closet and only one functional drawer.

United States of AmericaAbsolutely nothing..
The hotel was extremely charming and cozy with a lovely fireplace in the living room. The staff was friendly professional and helpful beyond belief. Perfect for a weekend get away with or without your loved one. I would like to note one staff member completely stood out in my experience. His level of professionalism and Catering to the guests was superb. Jonathan Schenk went above and beyond to help me get some food after the kitchen was closed. He is a true asset to the space! Highly recommend this place!

United States of AmericaReally a poor experience. Uncomfortable rooms and service that the owners clearly thought could be balanced out by a few modernist pieces of furniture. For the money we have gotten a MUCH higher quality of stay elsewhere.
Fancy location.

United States of AmericaBeds were very uncomfortable too soft without support. Rooms were very tiny. the bathroom reminded me of a chain hotel, basic but nothing special. We woke up in the morning to find tiny ants crawling all over the top of the desk. Was expecting a "wonderful" breakfast, but instead a continental one featuring plastic wrapped bagels, some fruit, and yogurt. We selected this place because of the restaurant and bar and they were not opened nor was it mentioned in the listing. A big overpriced disappointment.
Great location close to restaurants and on main street. A pretty looking place but was expecting more from the reviews we read. There was free parking at the hotel.

United States of Americazero amenities even though things like free breakfast are totally falsely advertised. even though you enter to see a stocked full bar and clearly a recently renovated seating area for the restaurant the staff quite curtly tells you that it’s “under renovation” and therefore no service at all. for this price the property should really have a backup offering even if a voucher at a restaurant or at a minimum bar service
