Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyAs expected, room was small. Beware if you leave your receipts at breakfast empty: we realized at check out that waiters had been giving themselves tips for breakfast without our consent !!
Perfectly located, calm and well decorated. Very comfortable bed. A la carte breakfast included in room rate was good.

United States of AmericaWould have liked a price list in room for beverages and snacks. Ordered drinks from waiter in lobby and 20 minutes later was told they didn't have what we ordered - lobby and bar area was not crowded, why did it take him so long to tell us?
Breakfast was great. Bed comfortable and warm - liked "fur" throw

SwitzerlandThere are trade offs to consider when staying in a classic traditional hotel, where the facilities are on the older side. The rooms are very small with limited space to move around or spread out. There certainly was nowhere to work in the room (ie desk). However, the lobby is quite spacious and comfortable and I saw several people working there. The water pressure in the shower was on the lower side and the faucets were traditional with the hot and cold settings as separate dials. That said, these things did not put me off the hotel and I would certainly stay there again in the future.
The Marlton is a classic New York hotel in an excellent location. The staff were very friendly, the bed was super comfortable, and the breakfast was quite nice. The rooms were very very quiet and we slept perfectly each night. I’ve stayed in other hotels and apartments in NYC and this certainly was not the case there. Also the temperature control in the room was top notch. One other noteworthy experience was the breakfast every morning. We always easily got a table right away and the servers were attentive.

Great location and the rooms, though small, were nicely fitted out and very quiet.

AustraliaWe very much preferred the previous breakfast choice (pre-Covid) of avocado and boiled eggs and toast (or fruit ) (that is, the breakfast included in the daily rate). We found the present breakfast selection (as part of the daily rate inclusion) very disappointing and boring , especially as we were staying with you for 5 nights. Everything else was wonderful at the hotel and just as we had remembered it. We have stayed there several times and will stay there next time, but hope for some improvement in the breakfast provided with the daily rate.
The position is excellent as are most other aspects of a stay at your hotel.

FranceThe room was really small and only about half the staff was friendly.
The complimentary breakfast was good. The room was stylish, but small, although typical for NY hotel rooms. The location was extremely convenient for getting around all parts of the city with lots of good bars and restaurants nearby.

United States of AmericaI wished that a chair could be provided in the room but understand that it would probably take up too much space.
The room would be considered small by some but not by European standards. Very clean and very comfortable bed, linen, robe/slippers, etc. Lobby was cozy as well as the bar area; the restaurant pleasant. The location is super and the continental breakfast (fresh fritta and side salad) was scrumptious.

United States of AmericaRoom was quite small - although bed was comfortable, pillows were softer than I was used to. Although breakfast was free - you had to sign a meal ticket that inflated price of breakfast - $56 for breakfast two - basically a continental breakfast (where price for no guest breakfast was $18) and tips were requested based on inflated price - found that a bit annoying. Service at breakfast varied from poor (gruff inattentive service l, forgot to bring us silverware, etc) to great (very friendly attentive service.)
Fireplace and comfy in cafe/lobby of hotel - inviting (although often very crowded with guests and no guests). Room was ready and check on allowed two hours before check in time. Nice amenities in room - toothpaste! - and slippers. They gave small bottle of wine for 4 day stay. The decor of halls and room was unique and attractive. Free newspapers and breakfast. Great location.

SingaporeThe majority of rooms are incredibly small/tight! Yes, the website does state they are 100-125 sqft, but the photos don't really prepare you for just how tight they are! There's barely room to walk between the bed and wall, and certainly nowhere easy to put your luggage.
The location is ideal for anyone visiting NYU. The lobby area is very cozy, particularly in Winter with the fireplace going. The coffee/Tea in the lobby was appreciated, while the Breakfast room and staff were very nice.

United KingdomThe main thing we didnt like was that we stayed for three days and on a number of occasions we were disturbed by staff knocking on our door asking what time we are checking out (once on the second day and three times on the check out day). One of those people who knocked said we can check out at 13:00 however at 12:00 we got a call from reception asking us to leave. Just felt a bit unorganised, especially considering the expensive day rate.
Nice location for exporing south Manhattan (Greenwich Village, East Village, Chelsea, Lower Manhattan etc). Rooms are small but comfortable and clean. The hotel lobby and bar/restaurant have a nice rustic vibe to them, cool place for having a drink or meal next to the fireplace. Breakfast's nice.

United States of AmericaThe included breakfast options were subpar but not awful (you can find a lot more stuff within walking distance I’d rather spend money on). Overall I would have said this was a 10/10 hotel if it hadn’t been for on my second night someone started smoking on my floor and there’s not any kind of seal on the door so the smell seeped into my room and made my room smell like a cigar lounge. So if I hadn’t been subjected to second hand smoke the entire 2nd night it would have been a great stay. Oh and all front desk did about it was “call them”. No it’s illegal to smoke inside, they should be removed from the premises.
It was very quaint and eclectic in the best way. The Marlton felt like you were walking into a piece of history. The lobby has a huge fireplace and lots of wood and stone to make you feel cozy and at home. The property is beautiful and has an authentic vintage feel to it.
