Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesI could hear everything in the rooms next to me. The TV is Fire Stick, so it doesn't get local/standard TV channels live. The elevator stopped one morning trying to reach lobby and I couldn't get out, rang the alarm several times with no one responding. I finally got the elevator to go up, got out on another floor to take stairs. When I came to front desk, they offered no acknowledgement of alarms or apologies. There's really no signage on the hotel. A giant Psychic sign is what you see. A bit confusing, and I lived in NYC for 20 years.
Location is great and central to the City with good food/beverage/amenities nearby. Fridge and microwave in room.

United StatesThe room is very small and noisy… you can hear the noise from the street and alarms the whole night. Probably that’s a typical NYC thing. Also, the toilet didn’t work well, but the staff came and fixed it soon.
The location is quite nice, within 5minutes walking to the subway station in a rather safe area.

CanadaOur bathroom was exceptionally cold and there was no extractor fan so after a shower everything was super wet and damp. The "outside" facing window of our apartment was bricked from the outside, which was a bit sad.
The rooms, though small, had place for one's luggage and clothes. The bed was really comfy and it was difficult not stay in bed. The location is exceptional and we were able to get everywhere within in walking distance.

BelgiumIt took 30 min to check in, they asked for a security deposit that they didn’t announce beforehand and then they didn’t even take cash! Coming from overseas, this was a big issue! The host was nice but didn’t really know what she was doing, she had to call her boss multiple times (partly why it took 30 min to check in). They couldn’t find me in the system for a while, and they had the same issue when I checked out. I also had to switch rooms because they gave me a key card to a room that could only be opened with a physical key. The room was clean but there was vomit on the carpet downstairs

United StatesThe room was tiny. It had one very grimy window. There was a small TV that did not work. I let the staff know the TV wouldn't connect to any channels and no one addressed the issue. The room I was in was directly in front of the elevator, so the noise of the elevator and the ding kept me up all night. There was a large refrigerator in the room, which was very loud all night. Overall, not great for a night of sleep and no TV to provide background noise. Too expensive for what it was.
