Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe room smelled like the toilet, it was stuffy, people walk by the alley so can't keep the window open, sheets did not seem fresh. The cost was exorbitant for what we got even considering everything in Alaska is expensive in the summer. Historic does not need to mean run down.
The location is perfect and the only reason for an OK rating.

United StatesThere was no breakfast (it asked how was the breakfast) My room was nice, but it was hot. The shower is made for short people and I am 5'8 so had to crouch so that I could shower my hair. My top comforter is very old and dingy - I did not use that at all. I liked that there were TV's in the room but you had to lay backwards on the bed in order to see the TV haha
I liked the complimentary coffee keurig cups in the morning and the receptionist was very helpful. I liked that it was a historical site. It was RIGHT across the street from the free shuttle so that made it easy to transport luggage etc. Very close to restaurants, cafe's, and shops.

United KingdomThe room needed redecorating and the old run-down furniture replacing. Redecoration of the exterior is also long overdue.
Decent price by Seward standards. Easily the cheapest hotel when I was looking for a room with self contained facilities in June 2025. The staff were pleasant, the communal areas had a nice traditional character, coffee was available 24/7 in the downstairs lounge, there was a decent supply of hot water and the room was reasonably clean.

United StatesWe stay at historic hotels often. They have been updated and so we were a little surprised that these two rooms had old drapes and lacked the attention the beautiful hotel deserves. The bed was clean and comfortable. The water in the bathroom did get hot after a long while.
We wanted to stay in a historic location. This certainly is historic and did not disappoint in that way. We did not experience any ghost activity while there. The nice lady at the front desk was working there for the summer, as is common during tourist season. She was very nice and helpful.

AustraliaThe carpets desperately needed a vacuum, especially in the passage ways. The rubbish bins in the public areas were overflowing, the whole time I was there. The place needed a good tidy up, with stuff laying around, that should be put away. There was no water available for the coffee machine when I arrived. When I asked about the water, there was no rush to rectify the situation.
The position is just out of Seward's business centre. The hotel is an interesting old place, with plenty of character. I also liked that the room had a large bench, at a good height where I could put my suitcase, and easily unpack, and pack.

United StatesIt wasn’t clean, staff wasn’t around the entire time. Told the one person in the morning that I saw, “thank you and have a great day.” She responded with “yep.” 10/10 would not recommend. Especially with the price that was paid!

United StatesHad a Shining look, ha. It’s a landmark so it’s really old and creepy looking but overall it wasn’t a bad experience.
It was clean, walkable distance to the ship. The room had its own bathroom which was awesome, some don’t apparently. It was really quiet. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. Staff was nice. The vibe was actually peaceful. Coffee shop around the corner.

United StatesOur sink in our room had a large crack which was not told to me until after we checked in, the toilet seat was dirty, the toilet paper on the roll was wet, the carpets in the room had not been vacuumed, the room smelled as if too much cleaning products or spray had been used, the heat was almost nonexistent & my kids, husband & myself were all really cold throughout the night. No way to regulate the heat in the room since it is an old hotel.
Staff was super friendly at check in, allowed us to check in early. Location was perfect for walking distance to the sealife center, nearby restaurants & park.
