Guests can also give separate subscores in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free WiFi. Guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently – there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.

Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.

Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United States of AmericaThe cabins are comfortable with a truly excellent heater. I like that each cabin comes with bear spray. It is about half way between Chitna and McCarthy. This is an excellent location. Having a private bath is also a big plus. The breakfast that James and Christina serves is truly magnificent. Should we be back that way again then this is a place we would stay.

United States of AmericaI really enjoyed from end to end. - Before we arrived, James welcome us via email and messages. His instructions covers everything we can think of and beyond, every tiny thing like direction, food, gas… it amazed me from very beginning. -After we checked in, the surrounding of the cabin is absolutely stunning which makes me feel I really fit into the wilderness but going into the cabin makes me feel I have everything I need. -Location is awesome too as it was 1 hour away from McCarthy bridge and it is so great for anyone who just finished one day hiking or ice climbing. -Private bath is absolutely the hidden gem and it is so rare to see in this area - 5 Star Breakfast, all cooked and hot. i hope James keep running his cabins in Alaska way and he told us he considered this as his career and dream and I am so intrigued by his idea of fitting into the nature. I will definitely visit again!!

United States of AmericaIt was a bit far from McCarthy and restaurants, given its remote location but then we selected it based on that. I would recommend picking up food in Glenallen to cook in their well-equipped communal kitchen.
This cabin had charming decor, a comfortable king size bed and quiet, scenic location. The hosts went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed and to make our stay enjoyable!

United States of AmericaThe mosquitoes 🦟 were nasty so bring bug spray or rechargeable zapper. We killed plenty. Other than that they provided us citronella in each cabins. It was so nice.
Everything….from location, the cabins, the super comfortable beddings, breakfast galore and the owners were the kindness and most accommodating we’ve ever met in many of our trips. We truly enjoyed our stay and didn’t want to get out of bed in the mornings. 😝 We had to drag our kids out of bed in the other cabins. The surroundings were like heaven on earth. They have a net outside with citronella near a fire pit for grilling. 🥰 Thank you James and Christina for our lovely reception. Something we will never forget. You had graced our family with such amazing memories and we surely gained new friends. Will surely come back!!! Thanks a million!!!

United States of AmericaKeep in mind it's this is in a remote area and is off the grid. Hair dryers & curling iron use too much draw on the battery. Not a problem for us, but just an FYI.
Really nice, tastefully decorated cabin, excellent breakfast (pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns). James and Kristina were excellent hosts. They were great on giving us the dos and don't of what to do in the remote area and their restaurant recommendations were spot on.

United States of AmericaNothing really, it was a dream location.
This place was both myself and my husbands favorite accommodation. It was everything I had been looking for in an Alaskan stay, and I found it very much last minute. It's very much off the grid, (but with great wifi, go figure!) rustic but cozy accommodation, fire pits, woods, a river within ear shot, and a great breakfast the next morning at a time that worked with our long day and early tour at Kennecot Mine. James was a great host, and cook, and made sure we knew to carry bearspray while walking the property. He also helped another cabin out with lighting the bonfire that was giving them trouble in the evening. The breakfast was amazing. You name your time, and when you get there it's ready for you. Pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, coffee, orangejuice. It was too much food, but that's his plan. I suppose if you don't eat meat or whatnot, let him know the night before. Getting there is an adventure as well, as the road out to McCarthy is notorious, and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't dangerous. If you plan on staying here, or going to McCarthy make sure you understand the road you will be taking. No gas, no amenities, rough, and riddled with ruts and pot holes, in the middle of nature. ie: bears, wolves, and moose. If you pop a tire, hope you have a spare, or be prepared to flag down a local at some point to get help. No cell reception either on the road. It takes about an hour to get to James' property from Chitina (also last chance for $$$ gas).

United States of AmericaThe road in is a little rough but that comes with the territory and going slow increases the chances of seeing wildlife.
Really well thought out cabins and obviously done by a couple who understand what you're looking for after a day of hiking - or before (the breakfast was exceptional)

United States of AmericaThere was nothing we didn’t love!
You’re actually in the park, which is rare. The hosts are awesome people and care about you, your experience, your comfort and your safety while staying there. The beds are super comfortable, which helps after a long day of hiking! They feed you so mightily in the morning that you won’t have to eat until dinner. The property and the cabins are are absolutely gorgeous. If you’re looking for the best Alaska experience without sacrificing comfort...stay there!

United States of AmericaJames and Cristina were wonderful hosts. They made us feel welcomed and genuinely enjoyed sharing their homestead. You can walk the property by the river and enjoy a fire pit for a relaxing day in the wilderness. The cabin was exceptionally clean and uniquely decorated. The fresh cooked breakfast was super filling and tasted great. Having a private shower is definitely unique for this area.

United States of AmericaOur only issue. Beware. Being an out of state traveler the McCarthy road has mile markers that associated with addresses. iPhone maps sent us to spot at 52 mile marker only to find the cabin was at 26 mile marker. So traveling on that back rode was a big mistake missing the location. But it worked out where we visited Kennicott then went to cabin instead of planned cabin checkin then Kennicot. Cut some sightseeing time at McCarthy & kennicott, but worked it out. Other than that James met us and showed us all about cabin stay & had a great breakfast he made. Price was on my high end but it was worth it overall. Thanks to James & his wife for great stay.

United States of AmericaOnly one plug in the room and it was used for the radio and the lamp.
These cabins are super cute! If you are looking for someplace to stay on the McCarthy road this is a good choice. The breakfast was excellent! The hosts did a great job! While it is remote and there was only one plug in the room, the room itself was cozy and comfortable. Looking to get off the grid and still have some of life's comforts? This is your place.

I stayed here on 2 different nights and in the moose and bear cabins! Both cabins are amazing and charming and cozy! You won't be disappointed!! And Cristina and James go out of their way to make you feel so welcome and taken care of, and I loved getting to know them better as we talked while enjoying a huge and fabulous breakfast! I'd recommend Wrangell Mountain Lodge to everyone as the most authentic, true Alaska experience!!
