“We arrived last week Sunday afternoon for a few day retreat in the province of Thai Nguyen. We chose Sunny because it looked green, everything looked new, and the pool looked nice.
Upon arrival the guards seemed extremely excited and happily loud. We checked in and got a nice room on the second floor. The bathroom drains however started smelling as soon as we used the sink. On our 2nd day we asked to change rooms, and we were put in the room next door which didn't have a disfunctional tap. The smell from the drains was better, but later that evening it was back.
We took a look at the pool and thought it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Ofcourse at this time of year it had been raining lots, but it was green with an obvious layer of grime on the pool floor. I spoke to the receptionist about cleaning the pool and he said we clean it every morning. I decided to attempt to scrub the pool floors and remove the top layer of dirt. An hour later it looked as though nothing had changed. I asked why the filters were off, and he said he'd turn them on. He didn't turn them on until a few hours later. It seemed like the pool filter was broken.
We spoke to the chef who told us what was available that evening, and received a custom vegetarian menu.
We went out to explore a few hours. When we came back we went over to the cafe (a spoken word menu) for a drink but left quickly as the employees were rowdy, face timing on public, and shouting through their phones while online gaming. We spent most of our day times outside the hotel because we couldn't bear the noise, and being stuck in a hotel room. Coffee Tac is a wonderful cafe with two hanging seats that became our best friends. The province is beautiful, with necessity day excursions to a cave and waterfall, or to the lake nearby. We recommend having a motorbike to explore.”
