I originally booked just one night, but ended up staying three. Vinh is truly the best host we’ve ever had. She took such amazing care of us – from helping plan our trip with local tips, to offering so much support and kindness when I wasn’t feeling well. The homestay itself is very peaceful, and the food is great.

The rooms are good and the food as well. Vinh (the host) is amazing and so helpful. She organized two days for our group packed with activities and she took the time to be our private tour guide for one trip. She really does everything in her power to make sure your experience in Mai Châu is wonderful! Definitely recommend staying at Hakuna Matata!

Vinh is the kindest most loving host, there is not one bad thing to say about her as well as hip and trang and the rest of the staff. The rooms were clean and spacious and you can borrow bikes for free for the day.

Wow this is the best hostel we’ve ever been to, the rooms are amazing and the food is good, and there are some sweet dogs:) but the best part is the people who work in there, so nice and really helped us with everything! Love this place and planing to go back

Genuinely the nicest people running the homestay! They were super helpful and always making sure we had everything we need, and remembered all of our names! The place was very cozy, felt like home. I arrived before 2:00 PM, the room was ready and they gave me the key. The room was clean, cozy. The breakfast was simple but definitely sufficient. There is a table with hot tea, iced tea, coffee and water for free use all day. There is a restaurant on site and people also come to eat there from outside. The homestay is in a central location in the town and you can walk to the rice fields. There are bicycles on site. The staff is great.

Even though the building is older and the rooms are dark, they are clean and the beds are super comfortable.

Vinh and her family made this place very special. Vinh uses locally sourced organic fruits and vegetables for her restaurant, and has lots of vegan options. There is always freshly-brewed ginger tea available. There is free use of bicycles, and she knows all the best routes to ride to the surrounding villages. She is very efficient in making whatever travel arrangements you require, even with special requests, such as front seat for someone who has motion sickness. There are a couple of guitars to play around with, and the two dogs are friendly, happy, and healthy.

Everything was just perfect! Food was fresh and delicious. Even other travellers from other homestays came to eat dinner over there. Rooms were nice, clean and comfortable. There was everything you need. We felt like we were part of the family. If we needed any help with scooter rental, with transport or advise about different tourist attractions, then we got maximum help and support plus very good prices. After we moved to the new location the owner was still willing to help us with information and support we later needed. Thanks so much for the kind heart and the help you gave us!!!

Super nice owner! We travelled by bicycle and she gave us a lot of recommendations, water for the way and even bananas from her families farm. The room was very cozy and clean. Food was good and a l ot of vegetarian/vegan options. The Rooftop is a Highlight. Breakfast in the morning with that view was great!

Homestay is more than staying at the home of the hoist but being treated like a family member. Vinh is a strong and wonderful woman who runs the Hakuna Matata Homestay in Mai Chau. Before I came, she organized the transportation and arranged a two days tour for me. Everything was so well organized that I didn't have to worry about anything. The room is very spacious and clean. As a city person in Asia, I need not worry about the air-conditioning, WiFi, everything worked very well. Upon arrival, Vinh showed me the beautiful area nearby. With the bikes they provided, cycling around the rice fields were really awesome. The meals cooked by Huang were terrific and tasty. They were so family-meals and made me recall the meals cooked by my family when I was a kid. The tours arranged by Vinh to the Mai Chau waterfalls and Pu Luong were great. The trips were by motorbike and the experience were great. All in all, Vinh runs the homestay so well with her family and staff. Great hospitality, spontaneous, hazzle free, family-like relationship with the guests. They set a good standard for Homestay 😄🥰
